paint and detail guys help!!!

this is my poor old DD 92 Explorer and i'd like to at least make the paint shine again so here are some pics, yall think the paint is dead or can it be saved?? i don't have a power buffer thing either so it'd be by hand. and the truck sneaked into one pic some how

Looks dead. Sorry. I've seen several Explorers that model do the same thing. Just not quality from the get-go.

Looks pretty bad. Nothing by hand will bring it back to life. I would try a cheap polisher "low speed" 2000rpm and under and use a mild rubbing compound. I wouldn't worry too much about the clear coat as looks like it left a long time ago.

A lot of the earlier model vehicles used an enamel paint, not basecoat/clearcoat like vehicles now. In the past, when you waxed it (I assume someone did), did the applicator and polishing cloths end up red? If so, no clear coat.

You might be able to make it look a little better with a buffer. If you attempt it by hand, don't expect outstanding results. My '93 Ford Probe GT was kinda doing this...especially the hood. I had to wax it once a month to keep it in top shape.

yeah red paint comes off when you wax or polish it, might try the buffer and some wax and see what happens:dontknow: the buffer at the parts store is only like 20bucks...

sweet explorer looks like you did a really good job detailing it......sorry did not bother to read any of the post so i really have no clue what this thread is but i know it has an explorer and explorers suck so this thread sucks
