wow, really puts thing in perspective. Hope all get back on there feet soon, God bless those who didn't make it..RIP.

Those pictures really show you why you need to evacuate when a storm like that is bearing down on you.

How about the lone house left on that one beach? If that neigborhood had not evacuated there would have been a lot of deaths.

Wow!!!!! Parts of that area REALLY took it hard.R.I.P. for those that chose to ride out the storm and did not make it.I was reading a story yesterday that some of the missing may have been washed out to sea and may never be found.Living in sw florida we have to deal with these storms each year.We stayed for Wilma in 05 and I will not go through another Storm over a cat.2

Alot of people think they will be o.k.riding out the storm at home.As you can see from some of those shots the house Ain't there no more!!Heed the warnings that local gov and the media put out.Evacuate when told to do so.!!
Lucky there were not more people killed. Thanks for sharing some great pics of one nasty ass storm. We got lucky on this one.Sorry Texas.

Hard to look at. Brings back to many memories of Hurricane Andrew.

It's an emotional nightmare... even after a week to two weeks of Search and Rescue Operations...were shot. I can recall many encounters with people during the aftermath of such an event... such hopeless, overwhelmed, and hollow expressions of a person. It's is a life changing experience.
On the positive side of things however...it is amazing to see how a community comes together after devastation like this, and people from all over this great Country come to help in recovery efforts. Pretty amazing actually....it's not always like the nightmare with Katrina.
Gods Speed to all those affected by Ike, they will be in thoughts and prayers.

where is all the countrys that we helped? We have helped many countrys after distruction like this,,,,,are they here for us now?

I think it's a one way street when it comes to that. You are right, where the hell are they when we need help!!

Breathtaking.....

Where do you even start after something like that? Maybe Georgia willo lend us a billion back in aid.

Wow ........ And I was complaining about high gas prices coming home from the GTG. Makes ya stop and think sometimes how blessed we are. It also reminds us that anything can happen. God bless those affected!

Very sad. I'm lucky myself. We lost a few trees and sheds but our house is not wrecked bad.

A pitty the media fails to publicize how bad we got flooded down here for Ike. I guess cuz we are "used to it" or it isnt a big city it doesnt get much attention.

I just want my power back on.... This generator usage is getting old quick.. I've already forgotten how it feels like to open a fridge without that unbearable lingering smell...
