PICS!!! Toasted Spider Gears

This picture is of the top and bottom spider gears after running at the track with slicks. Some thing for all of you DIY'ers out there. To remove the rear axles you will need to remove wheels, calipers, rotors, and expand the e-brake to be able to slide the axle in far enough to be able to remove the c-claps holding the axles in place. To be totally honest with you guys I really don't know how I was able to drive the truck home in this condition.

Took about an hour and a few phone calls to figure out how to get the fcuknig c-claps out, but we were finally able to get the boogers out. Thanks for your help bro. Tomorrow we pull the driveshaft out and pull the pumpkin. The side spiders are pretty toasted as well, but not as bad. I'll have some pics of those tomorrow.

The ring and pinion don't seem to have any damage to them, but then again they are still on the truck. I won't know until we get them out tomorrow for sure.

Cryoing process should harden the gears enough to hold approximately 800-900 hp. You probably toast your clutch and flywheel before you hurt the gears.

Nope this would diffinently not happen with street tires.

It sure can. You can cryo just about anything that is made of metal. I'm going to send Ken some brake rotor to have cryoed before I install them on the truck.
