I did. My builder and the machine shop both told me the pistons were looser than they like to see. The machine shop did sell me different rings. He did not like the rings that I bought with the pistons. I change the oil every 1,000 miles and it burns 1 to 2 quarts depending on how hard I drive it. And no oil in my puke tank. The oil comes out very black because of the gas getting by the rings. What clearence our you guys have with your pistons? Mine are at 6.5 To7 thousands.LoveThisTruck said:Damn man, didn't you just have that motor built![]()
HV SRT said:I was asking what the clearence is between the block and piston. But that would be good to know what compression people are running. I'm at 9.5 to 1. My builder and machine shop thought I should be at between 8.5 to 9 to 1.

.008"?!?! thats insanerottenronnie said:It depends on the piston skirt cam shape, the type of material used to make the piston, skirt thickness, skirt length, ring land thickness, dome thickness and other factors.
Several years ago, forged pistons were installed at .008"+ piston-to-wall, and cast were installed considerably tighter; but with new designs and alloys it is BEST to talk to the manufacturer to see what they recommend for clearance, for the application.
