So, after only getting a 2.16 60' last night with very little tire spin, I need to see why her acceleration is so poor. I plan on throwing her on the Dyno soon to see what kind of power she is putting down and what my A/F are sitting at. Any suggestions of things to check for this issue? I am pretty mechanically inclined and know my way around an engine bay, but can't diagnose issues to save my life....especially on an auto trans. I am sure my TM is holding her back a little but I wouldn't think this much. Any guidance is greatly appreciated!

Really, remove the cats , put the muffler back in! Then prepare to install a Stryker cam! Ronnie , you need to stock up on Stryker cams! Everyone with an 06 is concerned with this issue and the only way to fix it is to change out the cam! If your trans is still stock then use the torque management when driving around! Without TM the tranny will not last long! Save the hard shifts for the track

Not another one...!?!? Why was there no discussion on this last year before I bought mine!!

Well what was your 1/4 time after all the guessing we did over the past couple days? Your 60ft is nothing to brag about, but it is really average of a QC with street tires and factory converter:dontknow: I still have 2.1-2.2 all day long till I can get mine to hook!

I've seen qc's get lower but yours sounds average. What technique are you using when launching? As in sstalling to 1300 rpm then launch or just rolling on the throttle, etc...... best I've found is stalling uup as high as you can before you break traction. Also on street tires lower your psi till about 16psi. That will allow your to have a larger contact patch and lauunch harder. A convertor and dr's will alllow youu to cut those 60's. And once you start modding more adding power axle wrap may become a problem.....if it does caltracs is what you'll need.....

I was stalling to about 2000rpms if I remember correctly then just launching it. No rolling in. I didn't have hardly any wheel spin at all. I am not really concerned with modding it right now. I know modding it will give me better 60's and ETs but I just am concerned with how it is launching now. I feel that it is not snapping as hard as it should be. I think there is an issue with it. Want to make sure it is running great the way it is before I just start throwing more parts on. Make sense?

What's up with all the slow 60ft times on the QC's? I was running 1.9's and sometimes a 1.8 on Nittos and caltracs and I though that was slow . I didn't realize so many others had problems with launching the QC trucks.

You said you have one of Torrie's tune on the truck. If you do, then the TM has already been removed

You cant have it both ways. Either the TM is there or it's removed. There may be a way to leave some of the TM in the tune, rather than take it out completely. But Torrie can answer that. ANd as long as you drive it smart, the trans will last a while without the TM. Especially at moderate power levels. I've got a shitload of 1/8 and 1/4 mile passes with the Paxton and it's hanging in there. I'm sure I'll need a trans rebuild soon. But, right now it's good. (knock on wood)

Something aint right. STalling at 2000rpm and launching, with no wheel spin. You should be roasting the tires. Even on a good prepped track.

Yep....that is what I am thinking. Problem is I don't even know where to start with diagnosing. I will be putting her on a dyno before to long but not sure that will show much.

Start with conditions.......Arizona air is always oxygen deficient. The DA alone was crap!!! 4808' ft. Getting close to mile high. Look at the corrected to sea level numbers Trainman laid out.

Also, your tune will be on the safe rich side. Use your Dyno $$ and get a A/F wideband from JTSVP instead. Then plot your A/F and work with Torrie to dial you in.

They are very easy to install. The biggest part is to have the bung welded into your midpipe. If you are going with new mids, then it will be a no-brainer.

Other than being on the FAT side of a tune, your fine. At least you can look forward to an accelleration improvement with a fine tuned combination.

:D

My only concern is that even before the tune it wouldn't break the tires lose off the line. I would think that I should (even with it being rich) have some traction issues on the street with aggressive acceleration. Just want to make sure she is running the way she is supposed to. I had already planned on getting the wideband when I get my DPs done.

You can talk tweaking the A/F all you want, but if you can't spin the tires even with it stock, somethings wrong somewhere I think. Jayssrt and I run Torrie's tune and he's pretty close because I do data log my truck.

I think there is a simple fix for this...

1. remove rear passenger doors
2. saw off rear portion of the CAB, being sure to leave the two front doors.
3. Install a manual transmission
4. Scratch your head and say "I should have gotten an RC and this woulda been soooo much easier"

hahahahahahahahhahahaha. good luck.

Hey a buddies stock quad cab 4x4 hemi can turn his 35's over no problem... common boys this is a 500hp viper motor we are talking here in a two wheel drive. Should beable to smoke em off no problem????

I drove a QC with 52k miles at a dealer by my wifes work and it felt slow as shit, thought it was just me being used to driving mine. Maybe there is something different on some trucks.
