Question for V or MC, or anyone else that has the answer;

The check engine light on my Wife's 2014 Durango RT came on yesterday. Is there a way to read the code from the dash? I haven't had to try reading codes from a "keyless" vehicle before. Thanks for the help!

(Appparently, I should use my glasses when I type....sorry VPRPWRD!)

Maybe I can help. The way to get a code to come up on the digital dash display is to do the following while sitting in the drivers seat:

-insert key in ignition and cycle three times, while honking the horn between cycles
-leave the key in the "run" position
-turn the radio to the AM dial, station 1400
-turn the volume all the way up
-hold horn down for 36 seconds
-turn the air conditioning to "high cool"
-turn key off
-remove key from ignition
-take key inside and lock vehicle
-give key to wife and tell her Durango is fixed

I am not aware of a way this can be done, sorry Oldcolt.

This is why pot is legal in Colorado. :D:D:D

One error in those instructions---station must be set at 98.7 oldies. :D

I can read the codes without a scanner in my 2013 r/t. You should be able to as well. I did it a few months ago. I'll research how I did it and get back to ya.

OK. Just tested it(been a busy weekend and haven't been near Durango to double check this till now.

If start button is in, pop it out with a plastic knife or something to avoid scratching edges.

Insert key fob into key hole.

Hold gas pedal to floor.

Turn key to the Run(not start) then ACCY position three times.

On the third turn leave it in the RUN position.

In the instrument cluster it will read out codes(if any) then says "DONE".

PM if it doesn't work and I'll shoot you my number to walk you through it.
