Its about time to stop :D

been doing this long enough and hopefully with this thread I know there are a couple more that need to quit too:p

so here it is

Gonna start tommorrow after 20 years of puffing , gonna try to start cutting down, and finally quiting:rock:

The ol doc says its a must do to get my pressure of blood down, so far I have brought it down to at least safe levels with a change of attitude:p

But it needs to come down more, so a diet , exercise, and no more puffy puffy:D

Let it begin:D

I quit after 10 years 3 months ago, 25 Winfield Reds a day. I only smoke when I drink and I love it! Best of both worlds for me! The next day and duing the week I don't feel like one at all. After 3 or 4 beers a nice tailor made goes down like a good girls panties. Nicely. ;) Then as the beer starts flowing and a few dozen later I'm almost back to normal. Not sure if this is helping or not LOL but best of luck mate, IMO the easiest way to do it is when you have a cold. I'd wait until then. Spend a few nights out in the cold with bare feet and get yourself a cold. That knocks 3-5 days of hardship off straight away as when you're sick you'd know the last thing you want is a smoke. Worked for me.

Best of luck.

Hope you win, Tony....

If my opinion is anything to you, I'll share it ....

I smoked for 20 years... Camel straights. Pack or so a day.

I tried quitting so many, many times by cutting back and everything else, but I still "chipped".... (taking an occasional puff of a friend's etc etc) It always failed.... Ya gotta quit cold turkey and make it a personal fight between you and the cigarette....

Basically, you must want to quit MORE than you want to smoke..... This battle will be won with will power alone..... It's YOU vs: the cigarrete. Who is stronger? ..... you or a piece of rolled paper with tobacco in it.... ?

Quitting smoking was one of the hardest things I've ever done in my life.

You can never smoke again........... PERIOD....

Best of luck and will power to ya, bro.....

Tim

I agree but I know of several people personally who have massive will power who smoke, maybe once or twice a month maybe once every 2 months at parties or get together who enjoy it and like to socially smoke, no different to weed or cigars although weed is another subject lol. That is mind power to consistently decline the drugs within that catch so many people out. I'm quite surprised I myself am doing just that. But I do agree that when it's time to quite - do it all the way or not at all. Don't go in thinking you'll only smoke when you drinking etc, you'll get no where. If you can at a later stage enjoy a smoke once a year or every few months or like me 2-4 times a month with friends whilst boozing good for you, just don't get caught by the web of lies  I now enjoy driving so much more, instead of thinking about my next smoke I'm 3 to 9ing and just living driving like my older days. Driving for me was what I thought was going to be hard but it's all good now.

People who only smoke now and then have very little actual addiction to the nicotine... It's mostly just the habit of smoking and not a depedency on the drug.... Very different and much easier to quit under those circumstances...

True and I agree but you can't deny that many (there are lots of people who do this) smoke for the pleasure, again, like cigars and the enjoyment of it. Lots will be out of habit but it is also nice to enjoy and this is from a personal stand point. Easy to stop but also easy to get addicted, which, many never do. That is also a bit of mind power involved especially if it's a weekend thing.

Quitting smoking is so much fun. I've been smoking for 11 years, and smoked my last cigarette on September 12th. I finally decided that I didn't want to smoke anymore after talking about and failing to quit several times in the past. I am going the Zyban route right now, being in the Army it doesn't cost a thing, and I can say I haven't had a single craving yet. I sit outside with my buddies while they are smoking, and other than finding the smell horrible, it don't have any issues.

You can do it Stank.. It's been 5 months, 12 days since my last one. I have to agree with Timbo, cold turkey bud.. Get r done..

i need to quit as well...been smoking for 24 years and i am up to 3 packs a day...damn thats a lot of money wasted.

Just decide you are quiting and quit...no cutting back...just quit...hard as hell to do....I quit a 2 pack a day Marlboro habit back in 1985...started dipping snuff as a replacement.....got to using 1.5 cans a day........finally quit that when I bought my former 06 SRT8 on Nov 12, 2005.....I figured up how much the snuff was costing a month and how much my car payment would increase buying the 8....about the same...rational was that I traded from an RT to an SRT at no cost by quitting the snuff..:D

Good luck bro...no matter what is said it is going to be hard...best thing is to replace the habit with something else....for me I replaced cigs with snuff then replaced the snuff with one badazz ride..:)

You folks that still smoke stink!

Couldn't care less if you are killing yourselves, but the 50,000 a year that die from your smoke (collateral causalities), are a crime.

Now that I have that off my chest...I agree, stopping was really tough, and it is a matter of mind...your mind is either strong enough to overcome the addiction or it is not. Think about it...hard.

Kristee and I were talking about this this weekend! I am with a Stinker I told her I was going to give the Axe to them on october 1st I am done!!!

If you folks can accept a few failures...but not stop trying...you will be successful. Everyday without a cigarette is a win.

Tony, just go cold turkey

There is no such thing as cutting back

42 days and going strong ...well sort off ! life is different since i quit , sometimes i am depressed and some times very tense .....but on the long run i know its the best thing i have done.

been smoking for 13 years , but decided enough was enough . :(

Quit smoking since I have been up here but cant stop dipping!
I will work on that one next
Good luck Stink!

no cigs

quiting smokes is such commitment most I ever had is close to three and a half years off. I will keep trying. I know the gum works. but I always mind screw my self cause of the money. bottom line is that cigs are the worst.:puke:
