RC HURST SHIFTER - WOT 3RD GEAR MISS

Thanks for all the work avcts, you have gone the extra mile, and I hope that Hurst comes thru...but we have heard it before, you may be the man that has their attention.

I have gone with BOOMER, and expect to install in a few days. He has never let us down before. Hurst has known about this problem for 30 months and is now going to address the problem...and the production line is stopping??? Please don't be surprised if something gets in the way of a Hurst solution...But by all means go for the Centerforce!
 
I used to totally blame my shifter all the time for missed shifts. There was always a few guys out there that mentioned that "I can shift fine with mine, I have no problems hitting third". I tend to believe that more and more.

Hitting the gears was getting worse with time. Until I finally took out 1st/2nd syncro. I had the tranny replaced (4800 miles). A new tranny was installed. The tech that worked on it was a freakin idiot. He ripped all the rubber for mouting the shifter, got silicone all over my rug and even was nice enough to add an extra hole in my floor board. :mad:

This is why I dont trust anybody... including online vendors where Ive been left out to dry......

Anyways....It started getting hard to shift again at WOT. I checked the Master for the first time and it was near empty. :idea: The Douche Bag dealer tech didnt even check it. This was probably my biggest problem. Im sure that this would also cause premature clutch wear. I bled the clutch and reinstalled the Hurst Kit. It shifts completely different. Night and day hitting any gear. Clutch still blows though. Im going to do that myself.

I should hear from Hurst this coming week. I think most people will will love the difference just by removing that damn isolator, Hurst Kit and BLEED YOUR CLUTCH AGAIN REGARDLESS. Put new fluid in it. Takes 10 minutes.

I removed the isolator on mine long ago. Made one hell of a difference. I personally like the looks of the Hurst Shifter. If they come out with a kit to improve it I will be all over it.
 
Oh.....they will. It may take a little more time. I promise you that I have gone to far with this to stop now.

Actually, I understand Silent D's concern. But, the guys at Hurst are genuinely busy. It did take some time to get these parts..but let me tell you something.

When I received the box, everything was in there that he had promised. Including a bonus part..just as promised. A few weeks later, I received more test springs from another Hurst Mechanical Engineer. You have to remember that these guys are bound by the corporate environment, legalities and loyalty to there direct buyers(DC). They really have to be careful. So, with that said, Im sure the time that it took was not really time alloted to aquiring parts, but to make sure Hurst and DC don't go at it. I understand this. Lets just say my job is the same as Hursts but in a different field.:2in1:

Im going to call on Monday and see whats up.

We have tested these spings and they worked perfect. The problem with the 2-3 shift was solved. I just wanted to touch base on this as there is now a few different options for buying shifters. If you still like the stock shifter but want to actually work this is the fix for you.

I too have been working with the hurst engineers about the sloppy shifter performance. I have been working on fox body mustangs for years. One quick fix is to remove the isolator plate which attachs the lever it self to the base. A company called Steeda makes a stainless steel bushing conversion for the factory ford shifter which works awesome. I have been working with Hurst and they have told me they have such a piece for the dc shifter. they are currently moving there plant cleveland ohio. when the piece is located I'll let everyone know the results

Thanks for all the help and options for those of us on tight budgets.
I know I may sound like a cheap bastard, but between making car payments and other misc. bills, upgrades are a luxury. :dontknow:

Ya know..... You may be a surgeon with a CNC machine and make wonderful stuff. But so far your bedside manner sux. Give a guy a chance. Some of us would like to keep the stock appearance and hope for some improvement to the shifter with the update kit.

dude, how can cutting the stock lever & redrilling holes, etc be what you would want to do and remain stock?
i am sorry if i offended anyone, but i am a very straight shooter. avcts says that he is constantly been let down by venders, and this mod here is going to let you down after you go thru all the drama of trying to hack up your stock parts.
