John, the problem with this post is that it doesn't make sense. Either example #1 is right or example #2, which is it?

You can't blame all the problems we have now on the Democratic congress, and at the same time say that the problems we had in the past were caused by the Democratic president. Wasn't there a congress then too?

If what you are saying is true, it won't matter who is elected president anyway.

Don't take this wrong, I happen to agree that congress shares a large, make that very large blame for the ills in our country right now. But so does the leader of this country. It is his job to convince congress to move in his direction. This guy just can't do that anymore, he has lost any juice that he did have.

In my opinion Bush has been an absent president for a long time now, happy to blame everything on congress while doing nothing about it. He has had short timers disease for the last couple of years already, talk about a lame dick, or is that supposed to be duck? hehehe

Anyway, I agree that people need to be paying a lot more attention to congressional races. But they won't. The big ticket is the one that gets all the attention, meanwhile most people couldn't even tell you who their Senator is, let alone their House reps. Hell, I bet if you ask people on the streets at least half of them couldn't tell you who their governor is.

So, as a country we get what we deserve in a sense. If people are not willing to be part of the process and educate themselves about the folks that represent them they shouldn't expect much in return.

Read before voting

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Part 1:
In just one year. Remember the election in 2006?
Thought you might like to read the following:
A little over one year ago:

1) Consumer confidence stood at a 2 1/2 year high;

2) Regular gasoline sold for $2.19 a gallon;

3) The unemployment rate was 4.5%.

Since voting in a Democratic Congress in 2006 we have seen:

1) Consumer confidence plummet;

2) The cost of regular gasoline soar to over $3.50 a gallon;

3) Unemployment is up to 5% (a 10% increase);

4) American households have seen $2.3 trillion in equity value evaporate
(stock and mutual fund losses);

5) Americans have seen their home equity drop by $1.2 trillion dollars;

6) 1% of American homes are in foreclosure.

America voted for change in 2006, and we got it!

Remember it's Congress that makes law not the President. He has to work with what's handed to him.

Part 2:

Taxes...Whether Democrat or a Republican you will find these statistics
enlightening and amazing. > www.taxfoundation.org/publications/show/1.html

Taxes under Clinton 1999 Taxes under Bush 2008

Single making 30K - tax $8,400 Single making 30K - tax $4,500

Single making 50K - tax $14,000 Single making 50K - tax $12,500

Single making 75K - tax $23,250 Single making 75K - tax $18,750

Married making 60K - tax $16,800 Married making 60K- tax $9,000

Married making 75K - tax $21,000 Married making 75K - tax $18,750

Married making 125K - tax $38,750 Married making 125K - tax $31,250

The democratic candidates will return to the higher tax rates. It is amazing

how many people that fall into the categories above think Bush is screwing

them and Bill Clinton was the greatest President ever. If Obama is
elected, he will repeal the Bush tax cuts and a good portion of the people that fall into the categories above can't wait for it to happen.

This is like the movie The Sting with Paul Newman; you scam somebody out of some money and they don't even know what happened.

What a crock of sh*t. Pick out some stats, say Congress became Democratic in '06 then blame them for every problem. Civics lesson 101 - The President signs the bills Congress puts forth to him, unless Congress can muster enough votes to override a Presidential veto. This Democratic Congress must be magical that within 1.5 years they've completely turned this country upside down. No Congress has/can work that fast. It would never happen with the Washington gridlock.

How long can you run a war and maintain/push for more tax cuts? Democrats responsible for gas prices - Ever think it's the impact of war/unrest in the Middle East, or China and other developing countries demand for oil, or weaker dollar, or U.S. consumption fueled by SUV mania? Democrats also personally sucked the life out of every Americans home and equity values? What you see now in our country is years in the making. The forces have been in place for many years. Before the home market crashed everyone was wondering when the bubble would burst, aware that the rise couldn't continue and the underliying economics didn't support the boom. Now it has burst so lets blame Congress. Nevermind the illegimate mortgage lenders writing risky loans and then these getting hidden in rolled up reselling.

If you're going to quote statistics, at least show an investigative link between the stats and your assumption.

There is no doubt that the repub's have been a disappointment, however I

agree with the black commentator on the radio the other night, that it has

been democratic policies that have had the greatest negative impact on the

quality of life for everyone.

But like you say, I guess a people get the government they deserve.:dontknow:

Glad you brought up the mortgage mess. Remember back about four years ago

Dem's were threatening to sue the mortgage co's for not making subprime(highrisk) loans, and now look at the mess.

It is just another example of what happens when government gets involved in

something it knows nothing about,

BUSINESS!:D

I say we just kill all the politicians in the country and start over with a clean slate.

Wait, somebody is knocking at the door, looks like the FBI hehehehehehe

I have no doubt that comments like that could be monitored and if "They" thought you were half serious would be sending men in dark suits and sunglasses and talking into their sleeves to see what your up too.

I have no doubt about that either. In fact, I have no doubt that my comments online are monitored by the powers that be hehe. My affiliations with those that find themselves at odds with the federal government virtually assures that. That's ok though, if they want to waste their time reading my ramblings that's fine by me LOL.

It was W who was pushing every American should own a home. You're substituting subprime with discriminatory lending practices. In fact regulation was abating on this lending segment during the real estatew wave.

I'm confused then, the government is to blame for allowing this to happen? Isn't this the same government trying to put regulation in place to prevent it?

A little research on the internet regarding the subject might be helpful for you. Wikipedia under subprime mortgage crisis is a good start.

If it's any comfort, many of the most competent fed's would be on our side

if S@#* ever does hit the fan.

I'm just going to throw this out there, you can pick it up and run with it. If not just leave it where it is.

This is what scares me.

Obama v. McCain
Kerry v. Bush
Gore v. Bush
Dbag v. forgot republican
someone v. someone
...etc...

What scares me is that there are no good candidates for the President of the USA. When it was Bush v. Kerry it was "the lesser of two evils"...that has progressed to "wtf have these guys even done...oh yeah one of them served our country, I'll take him"...

Politics are politics and politicians have been sticking to people since the Roman empire if not before.

I see McCain being able to work with a Democratic congress...I dont see Obama doing anything worht while.

Not sure where I am going with this, just more so worried about our country and the course its people have choosen over the last 15 years...
Status and wealth over God and health.

I think the US can do themselves a huge favor...start drilling our own oil, then offer to sell it to other countries...with a very hefty tax, so we can pay back some debt.

I do my best to get up every day with a sense of guarded optimism. But with respect to politicians and this process (in general) I have a bit less optimism than usual.... maybe even alot less. After all, we're talkin' about the filthiest business on Earth....Politics.

Yes, I do favor McCain over Obama. I'll just say (that's because) I have found more reason to dislike Obama and the company HE keeps than I do McCain. (If you read no further than this, you've gotten my whole point.)

Obama expouses a "come one-come all", feel good, neo-hippie line of ersatz garbage that appeals to (mostly hip, many black) folks and those who wanna simply vote the bastards out.... And from what I've seen, there's a whole lott'a angst and vituperation towards Bush (and Republicans), so it's quite a wide platform (from which) Obama can conveniently stand and hurl his own brand'a bullshit....complete with just enough truth to make it sound righteous.....

But, even his own constituants are voicing their displeasure over his addiction to lie .... oops, I mean ("do you mind if I just finish my") waffle on key issues for the sake of making him look like a centrist.... He is not a centrist... He is the most profound lefty, dressed and polished to look centrist.... He's such a waffle addict that even Jesse Jackson wants to "cut Obama's nuts off"..........

Obama is a WAY LEFTY.... You call that a gratuitous label from the right..... ? Well, hears EXACTLY what that means......:

He favors the grotesque, barbarous practice of crushing the skulls of live babies and leaving them to die on an operating table (read partial birth abortion). He was anti-gun (until he conveniently changed his mind) and he just shrugs off hanging out with admitted terrorists like Lew Ayers and all his other left-wing douchebag cronies. He's a globalist who thinks we should all be speaking French.... (sorry...cheap shot)... His wife has "never been proud of the USA" until Obama won the nomination......? Lord Jesus help us!!... (heard enough?)

Obama has an awesome presence and commanding communication skills.... Maybe the best ever in politics. But, I am attempting to penetrate the political veil to recognize the man...and there's no better way to do so (in one respect) than to judge the man by the company he keeps.......... OK, it's old school. Sue me...

Obama couldn't lie straight in his own grave....... and I do NOT trust him to be President of the USA.......

And while I'm at it, let's address the issue of race, because that's where Obama LIVES.

Obama is no more black than my wife.... (She's part black Irish) Yet he foments class envy by playing off the whole black thing..... He blathers on, constantly eluding to "black this" or "black that".... Yet, if you mention Colin Powell, Condie Rice or Justice Clarence Thomas, they are disqualified (as not actually black) because they are conservative.... Hell, I'd vote for Clarence Thomas for President any fucking day..... But not Obama. He is a phony, new age con artist... pure and simple..... He has many Americans fucking hypnotized by his polished demeanor and his lovely, endearing words.....

But, I don't trust him.... Not at ALL.

On the other hand:

The only shit I can really find about McCain is that he dances across the aisle from time to time and woos people like Ted (hic) Kennedy and others..... Which is really just politics plain and simple... That's not (in itself) really dirty... It's just business as usual.. He's sufficiently intelligent, politically savvy, mostly honest and has the experience to provide a cool head in times of disaster. Having been a prisoner of war for YEARS, he has an innate endurance for hardship and will keep his cool while everyone else is losing their's....

So, who am I gonna vote for......? Take a wild fuckin' guess.........
