Hi Guys,

I love the carbon look and so I came to make the idea itself.
real carbon parts are very expensive, mine is better off ...
it is not so easy, but it looks the same.

That was my first try:
The tank from my gokart...

after with clear coat finish:

I painted the K&N tube two times in a professional paintshop but the paint does not hold...

Now I starting to grade up my K&N intake with real carbon fiber: :D

I'll keep you posted...

The tank turned out great.
How many coats of epoxy needs to be done to get a smooth finish?

looks sweet... But ya need to make it a real carbon fiber part, not a carbon fiber overlay.. make a mold of the part and reproduce it in carbon fiber.

maybe two or three coats of epoxy are needed.

on the last picture is now a layer carbon fiber and epoxy coating on it.
now I'll apply another layer epoxy and then let it dry properly.
Then I'll grind it with a eccentric grinder and I hope to get a smooth surface for spaying clear lacquer on it...

On the tank, we have 6 times applied clear lacquer.
In between was ground it again and again...

btw: the carbon fiber has 200g/m².

good idea. But if I want to make my truck more lighter, I would start out differently I think...

They have alot of kits and how to's on YouTube. I have thought about doing this as well. Nice tank man.

I have taught myself...
The tank I have a few hours learned the hard way. :(

Thanks guys

isn't the idea behind carbon fiber to make the part weigh less?

it does look nice tho.
