Anyone using this kit? If so, what are your thoughts after the install?
I know the stock shifter is a weak point. Im pretty sure the new kit that I received from Hurst has significantly helped the shifter's ability to hit the 3-4 gate. HOWEVER, there's another issue. I know the forum probably has threads about it. I was blind to it because I never really noticed it.
I'm sure that's why this kit was developed. Believe it or not, I cooked my tranny. It was replaced by the dealer. I really think is was because of a master to slave ratio problem. After looking in the master and seeing there was no damn fluid in it, it made sense why I still have to slam the clutch pedal to the floor to go into 1st or Rev. If I'm up an inch, it won't go in gear. This leads me to believe that the WOT shifts were a problem, in part, with the shifter and in conjunction with a dragging clutch.
I now notice, with 5300 miles on the truck, that the clutch starts to grab when the pedal is near fully released. I've never had a problem with slipping or smelling a burnt clutch. Still grabs fine. But I do see that it is starting to weaken. If I take it to the dealer, they'll probably tell me its fine. When, of course, I know that it isn't.
Im going to get this kit shortly. Any assistance is REALLY appreciated with this.:dontknow:
