SCT tuner from KRC Performance

I just flashed my ECM today with the SCT tuner purchased from Marty a few months ago. I used the 93 octane tune after filling up with some 94 octane fuel from Sunoco.

Overall, I must say that I didn't really feel much of a difference, however, I wasn't really expecting too much since I have an '06 RC. There may be a little bit better throttle response.

I did notice that the RPMs seem to stay up much longer than before. I don't know if that is a good or bad thing. For instance, when I hit the clutch now at 3,000 RPMs, it kinda jumps up to about 3,200 RPMs for a second and then slowly makes it way back down to idle. Before, the RPMs would drop immediately, and quickly!

Does that sound right?
 
Have you tried putting the stock tune back in ...... That's my only concern when I do mine. That if it's not a gain, than I would want to go right back to the way it's running now.

No.. haven't tried the stock tune again. That's really the last thing I wanna do after buying the tuner unless it's absolutely necessary!

sct tuner for an r/c is only about 25 maybe 30 hp ,with the what i called the mail order tune ,,with that you dont feel a real boost from just it ,,,were you get the help with it is when you use it to richen up mix after headers mids no cats ,T/B,CAI ,,,will make you run lean ,,,at least thats what i have been told ,,,going to dyno with mine real soon

I've got the same thing. My throttle hangs up a bit during shifts. Seems a bit less with the AC on. I haven't called Marty about it yet but I read an article about another vehicle programed like that to reduce a rich mixture when the throttle plate goes closed? The problem does go away when you reload the stock tune. For me, the tune does help out in drive quality.

I had the same results with my QC. The throttle response improved over the stock tune or even the Stage 2 but that was where it ended.

The part throttle "spacing" between gears was off in the automatic. Kind of hard to describe but the duration of 2nd and third was about 1/2 of what it was in first. First was normal then it jumped into 2nd and then just as quick into third. I am talking light part throttle here. I know you have a manual tranny and that part wouldn't be a concern of yours but it was for me. Marty suggested I recalibrate the kickdown to compensate, but that change wasn't something that should have been there in the first place and I wasn't about to try and "fix" it through a k.d. adjustment.
If I put it in neutral and took it up to 3000 or so, it would seem to "hang" on the way back down at several points in the range instead of dropping normally.
Power wise, it felt really flat. AND the torque management seemed to be turned back ON. I spoke with Marty about this and he sent me an email showing it was off. It was still on nonetheless. I bought the truck brand new and know enough to tell the difference.

Marty offered me a refund and was willing to work with me but personally, I felt as if it was part of an experiment that I wasn't willing to be a part of. A nice enough guy and I don't know where he got the energy and patience to try and sort this stuff out. Some have posted favorable results from his tunes however, so that is a good thing. My results weren't favorable, that's all. So I paid DC Performance to send me some tunes and FOR ME, those worked really well.

I reflashed mine today and noticed the same thing. Not consistent though. I was going to give it some time and see if perhaps the computer needed to relearn after being flashed. As I drove the truck around for awhile it did not seem to do it as much. I am glad I read this post though. I might be giving Marty a call to address this, should it continue. Thank you for sharing that.

my rpm's do the same when disengaging the clutch.....however i noticed tire smoking difference and dyno proven 20 hp and 40lbs of tq to the wheels. every truck is different so to get the most out of it you'd have to dyno tune with someone like marty who knows what they're doin
 
I was worried something funky was going on with the TPS. Doesn't really seem to be consistent on my truck. Sometimes the RPMs slowly come down, and sometimes when I press in the clutch it shoots to 3300 and then slowly back down. What did DC charge for their tunes?

My 06QC is running strong (
player.swf
with Marty's tune.

The idle air control motor I think is what would cause the issues of high RPM
stall as described.

Did anyone ask their tuner what they observed while in that area of the program?:confused:
 
wow glad i went with B&G tune i have had no issues like that
 
The spark tables are increased when you high vacuum the truck, two things, it slows you down quicker and saves fuel on decel. That's all it is. Very easy for me to remove it if you e-mail tech support with your serial number. All you have to do is ask.
 
If you have any concerns give Marty a quick call,He has worked with me quickly and painlessly,great guy to work with! He can also explain how and why also.
 
How do you return to stock tune? I know you get 3 tunes, so, is it 3 fuel tunes + default/factory tune?
We only have 2 main premium octanes in NZ. Is it possible to just get 95, 98 and stock?

Thanks! I just wanted to see if anyone else had this "issue" (or.. non-issue I guess after your explanation!). I'll send you my serial # later today. Keep up the great work and thanks for the quick response.
