Hi,
Truck is at the garage today for a service and I have been informed the front drivers side caliper is seized.
I had noticed a bit squeeling but didnt think it was too bad and was just gonna sort the pads.
The guy said he could send it away to get sorted/refurbed but wasnt sure if he could source parts ok for it in the UK.
Is this straight forward for him to do or am I best to get a new caliper?

He said theres maybe 10% left on the pads and discs look ok.

Is there a brake upgrade kit for these or are std brakes good enough
(I imagine if there was an upgrade it would be $$$$$$ :chain: )

I just bought some no name pads last week for dirt cheap. They literally didnt have a name…turned out to be sever duty ceramics lol.

Rebuild kits are plentiful here in the US. The actual rebuilding is easy and any below average mechanic could perform in their sleep. As for new pads...OEM certainly offers great stopping power but downsides are heavy dust and fast wear to the disk. I've tried EBC but went to Zeckhausen pads and couldn't be more pleased. A little less initial bite but no dust and have so far seem to be lasting forever....my truck has over 130K with nearly 90K on just the Zeckhausen's.

dont know where you are getting rebuild kit for 10 bucks but if you can get them for that buy all you can get i priced them last year when i was having an issue and they where any where from 60 to 100 bucks for the rebuild kit. better off buying a remanned one. i am still looking into and seeing what i can come up with for an after market caliper since i have had this issue a couple of times already and would love to get rid of factory calipers so i dont have to rebuild them constantly.

If it's $10 I'll rebuild all 4 corners but I haven't found any under $60

Check that, can anyone confirm that the kits on Rock Auto are pistons and rings? I see the ring sets for $3 so are the expensive ones the whole kit?

Just so you guys are aware the pads from Zechausen ($70) are Centric Posi Quiet pads. Rockauto sells the exact same pads ($56) for a lesser price. Part number is 106.10850. Check the site you will see they are the same thing.

You can also get the rebuild kits from Rockauto.
Centric Piston $16.16 x 4 (front)
Carlson Seals $6.59 (looks like set of 4) I believe the centric seal is a set of two so you would have to buy two and they cost a bit more.

So a rebuild kit is about $72 not including shipping. New pistons and seals.

Not sure where the $10 price cam from. Maybe if you just bought seals and reused the pistons?

Great info thanks for posting it.:congrats:

Any videos on how to do this repair? Went to do pads and rotors, found out front passenger side is seized.
