I seriously hope this thread doesn’t degrade to another yet unresolved political debate. I am bringing this up with the best of intentions for all who wish to read, lurk, or participate.

There are some good heads on here, and I want to be informed more about the following for the safety of my family, and anyone else that feels as I do.

That “Something†is going to happen.

That “Something†may be anything from the United States getting out of this mess, and back on it’s feet again, to a local, civil, or global war. I honestly don’t know.

Since the recovery of the United States is not a prospect that would be a threat to my family, (I don’t think), this discussion will be about the things that could be a threat.

I hope this will help all of us be prepared for anything.

I’ll have several questions along the way, so I’ll start with this.

I think it’s pretty much a given that gun and ammo sales are off the charts. I have guns and ammo too.

Who are we going to fight? Are you thinking the races are going to turn against each other? Could it really get that bad?

Is it going to be the “Have’s†versus the “Have not’s� People that simply have to rob, steal, and kill to survive and feed their family?

Certainly it’s not going to be against the military? Or is it?

I hope I'm not off base here...

What the hell does that mean? You have asked some good questions that most will only be answered by time. The guns and ammo is a good question as well. I hope some of the "gun guys" on here will enlighten us some. In the meantime, I'm enrolled in a concealed weapon permit class tomorrow just in case something ever falls thru with my position on the County SWAT team. I have become accustomed to carrying a gun.

For the most part people helped each other. I hope that if it does go bad, that we have not as a nation lost that ability.

Could I kill someone who maybe tried to break in only to get food? No. If it comes to this, and I really do not believe it will by the way, but if it does, I will do everything I can to help others as long as I can.

I don't believe buying guns and ammo is the answer. I believe helping others will be the way out.

Time will tell.

As people become more desperate, they will resort to more desperate measures. This may be a mugging for some quick cash, a break in to steal something of value or food. As more and more people get laid off or kicked out of their homes and become destitute, it will increase the number of people who will need to resort to robbery.

So that may be the first threat you will need to be concerned with.

If the Government does something really anti American (like grant eminent domain to a foreign Government) then this might start a civil war. I don't see how we civilians could match our military tech except by sheer numbers. But I'd really hate to see that happen. The death toll would be incredible.

Unfortunately we are already seeing some issues between the have's and have not's. Theft and break ins are on the rise, both from businesses and homes. This is a product of stressed economic times and as more people lose their jobs and spend more time unemployed this will become more of a problem. While I don't think that will turn into anything truly serious it brings us closer to large scale marches/protests which run a serious risk of turning into riots. The people in these protests/marches will more than likely be composed of the have not's. The backlash from law enforcement/national guard will more than likely cause feelings of the government singling out the lower class for persecution, I see this also being fueled by the media and it could turn into a class war within large cities.

Also if/when the government ever realizes the drain that illegals are on this country and decides to actually do something about (kick them out) that could bring on small race wars in areas where illegals congregate in numbers. Unfortunately this group tends to have little to no respect for the laws of this country, don't believe me try looking up some statistics about how many hispanic gangs, dui's, inmates, etc there are. I see them as the most willing to fight.

I don't envision another full scale civil war, simply because most Americans are apathetic at best when it comes to what happens to this country. So I doubt anything nationwide will happen but I bet there will be some serious events in the larger cities before it's all said and done.

Finally, another large scale terrorist attack could have any number of consequences. September 11th brought us closer together and I'd like to think that would be the result again but who really knows.

I saw just today that families are coming back together to help one another through these difficult times. They showed one family where the three grown children and their spouses have moved back in with mom & dad and they all help keep a roof over their heads and food on the table. Kinda like old times.

There are men in the military who will do the right thing at the right time if the government gets out of control. :marchmellow:

First things first. If it came down to military action it would not be american troops on american civilians more then likely nato or the un. 2nd if they did do that then they know shit would hit the fan foriegn troops uh no. Race war possible but not likely holy war most definate. It is not just the forgien zealouts but people forget about the most racist man in america and the reason is because he is black. The big peice of shit Farakan this is one possiblity and for those who think they know him you might want to look again. It is groups like these that can cause chaos. Oh one more thing that may trigger chaos a one world currency and it is more realistic now then ever in the past. OR just like two days ago a asteroid came 40000 miles from earth so all that other shit wont make a differance if it is something like that.

I hope you are correct! The only thing that I see from then and now is people worked. In the depression people were willing to work to survive. Now people want everything for free. People are content to be living off the government now. I did not live in the depression but I am sure that the crime rate rose alittle during the depression. But the crime rate was not as high then (during the depression) as it is now.

I would help any one that needs it. I will continue to help anyone any one that is willing to help themselfs.

But will I stop and ask the guy that is breaking into my house if he is coming in for food? Or After my wife and kids? NOPE!

Time will tell, all we can do is take care of our family. But I my self want to be prepared for anything that may happen.

Many that are buying guns and ammo are not buying them in plans for shooting people but buying ammo in bulk due to the price increase that is happening. Guns> Samething. Along with a ban on some of the most awsome weapons.

Will there be less expensive fun being had...? By some, yes.... Will some of those affected have to tighten their belts an sell their expensive toys..... Probably. Will people be doing more desperate crimes to feed their familes.... Maybe a few.

Mostly though, law abiding citizens will be law abiding citizens... We have plenty of crime and violence being done already by those who are so inclined. But, I don't see mass rioting and looting by deranged lunatics, unless of course if there were no cops to enforce the law and maintain order.... If so, then martial law would be neccesary, but I doubt things'll get that bad....

Hope for the best, but prepare for the worst....

My .02. I think riots are typically inner city events where the rioters frenzy grows and feeds off one another. I live out in the country. It's kind of hard to sustain a rioting frenzy if I'm the only one. It could grow outward to some urban areas but I'd think it would stay mostly in densely populated areas.

All this reminds me of the 70s....we were going to have a depression and it was the end of the "American dream"..........mortgage rates were high teens and inflation was so high you had to hurry to the checkout before the price went up.......we will weather this storm again....just wish we had another Reagan leading the way.....hoping the current administration's plan works...:dontknow:

That pretty much sums it up, If my memory serves me, the biggest crisis is lack of faith, 2nd is economic, 3rd is war,which is propaganda and greed, money is the root of alll evil,thats one evil I'am rootin for, git the jist of it? they skim the milk and git cream, the people with the cream lifestyles are gitting hit hard, the lobbyist is working over time to combat socialism,and gitting stonewalled, people want to protect their assets, and are having difficulty doing so! is the country in as much turmoil as the fear mungers make it out to be?
