JUPITER, Fla. -- On September 11, 2005, Moroso Motorsports Park welcomes back the Arrigo Mopar Show, co-sponsored by Jon Smith Subs, the Gater 98.7fm and Murray's Speed & Custom. This event draws out the Hemi fans from all over to bring out the battle of the beasts. The event consists of quarter-mile NHRA-style drag racing in the Autocraft Outlaw Quick 16 class and Bracket Racing for all makes and models in Super Pro and Pro classes. The Neon/SRT-4 Shootout and Viper Shootout will also be competing. Tony Caprio and his wheel-standing PT Cruiser, "Texas Bandit", return to tear down the ? mile for all the spectators. Also featured is the Nostalgia Shootout with the famous front engine dragsters. Off the strip, head to the Midway and stroll through the Show-n-Shine, Manufacturers' Marketplace and acres of swap meet or stop by and check out the South Florida Glue Crew's Model Car Show.
As if the summer wasn't hot enough around here, racing on the track will have Super Pro and Pro Mopars blazing down the track trying to defeat all other makes. This event will put Mopar vs. Mopar until there are 8 cars or less, while all others will run until there are 8 or less and then they will ladder with the remaining Mopars. Winners will now have to put their pedal to the floor against a Muscle Mopar. Again this year, the Viper Shootout will showcase the powerful V10's as well as the Neon/SRT-4 Shootout. This race features the impressive Dodge SRT-4, which comes straight from the factory with a turbo-charged 2.4-liter 215-horsepower engine that propels it from 0-60 in under six seconds. Along with the bracket classes, race fans will see Tony Caprio driving his PT Wheelstander "Texas Bandit" down the entire length of the drag strip on the two rear wheels. This one of a kind PT Cruiser pickup with a 1,250-horsepower engine shoots 15-20 foot flames.
The NHRA O'Reilly Jr. Drag Racing Challenge will be a race featured at this year's Mopar Show. They will compete in two classes: 7-12 year-olds and 13-17 year-olds. They will be competing for a special trophy from NHRA as well as bonds from Marc Weinthal from Murray's Speed & Custom. The winner from each class will also receive a custom made jacket courtesy of IN Embroidery. Goody bags will be given to the first 40 participants.
Aside from the racetrack, the paddock will be packed with Chrysler, Dodge and Plymouth show vehicles that can make anyone want a Hemi. The show will be judged by Moroso's group of qualified judges with one award being given to the vehicles with the most votes for "Participants' Choice". Meguiar's is the sponsor of the "Best Paint" award with a special prize going to that winner.
The Manufacturers' Marketplace will have Arrigo Dodge displaying the newest trucks, cars, vans and SUV's. Vendors will take station throughout the midway to offer the best selection of new and aftermarket parts and accessories for both present day and yesteryear classics. If new is not what you need, travel over to the Swap Meet area to locate that hard-to-find item. A bevy of miscellaneous parts and artifacts, everyone is sure to find something they need or maybe something that they just can't do without.
Once again Moroso will have a Model Car Show, for all ages to enter. South Florida Glue Crew (SFGC) will do the judging for this year's small scale Show-n-Shine, and the winner in each class will receive a trophy. Doug Arnold, the founder of the Glue Crew, and its members are dedicated to the preservation of model cars and model car building. There is no additional charge to enter. Any participants, who wish to become involved with the Glue Crew more regularly, may meet up on Saturday mornings over at Craft House Hobby Shop located in West Palm Beach.
Gates open Sunday, September 11th at 9am. Car Show registration is from 9am until 12:30pm, and you can browse through the Swap Meet from 9am until 5pm. Racers for Christ service will be at 9:15am, while Time Runs are from 9:30am until 1pm. The Autocraft Outlaw Quick 16 qualifying runs will be at 11am and 1pm followed by their eliminations begin at 2:30pm. The Viper and the Neon/SRT4 Shootouts will be at 3pm and the Show Awards presentation will also be at 3pm over at the main stage.
General admission is $15 for adults while children 11 and under are FREE. Discount spectator tickets are available at Murray's Speed & Custom in Pompano Beach, North Miami, Kendall or their newer locations in West Palm Beach and Stuart. Car Show entries are $20. Racer entries are $60 for the Autocraft Outlaw Quick 16 class, $40 for Super Pro, while entries into Pro are $30. It will cost $20 to participate in the Viper Shootout, the Neon/SRT-4 Shootout or the Jr. Drag Racing Challenge. Swap meet spaces (used items only) are $35 each. All tickets include parking and pit pass. For directions to Murray's please call (888) 687-7297. Listen for your chance to win FREE tickets into the event on the Gater 98.7 fm. * In remembrance of September 11, 2001, all Police Officers and Fire Fighters with proper ID will be admitted FREE of charge in to this event on September 11, 2005. Also, the first 200 children under 12 will receive a memorial hand-held flag to take home.
We could see if there are open dates for the track rental near the same weekend of the event ?
Just a thought, that way there would be a 2 day event worthy for those who would be making the trip.
