Does this sound like an exhaust leak or something else? This morning when I fired her up with the windows up and the heat on I could smell either gas or rich exhaust, not quite sure but my friends notice it when they get in. I feel a loss of torque as well... I'm guessing I have an exhaust leak but wanted to hear opinions before I take it back to the dealer.

Cycle key from off to run position 3 times in 10 seconds and lets see what codes you have. Sounds like a bad 02 sensor. Could be an exhaust leak as well.

Well I didn't have a check engine light on, but I checked the codes anyway and found nothing (as I suspected.) I can narrow this down a bit more, it seems that the exhaust I'm smelling with the windows up is when I put on the heat in the morning while the truck is warming up...I mean this exhaust smell is coming straight from the heater. I see the dealer next Friday (where I pickup my Porsche loaner from the dealer, thank god I bought from a Porsche dealer) and hopefully this leak is covered under warranty. I haven't crawled under to check the o2 sensors yet though since it takes a solid hour for this exhaust to cool down, heh.

Turns out the dealer found I had 3 bad gaskets coming off the engine block, guess that would cause the exhaust smell in the cab haha. All covered by the warranty :)

So bad news, apparently the exhaust that was on the truck when I purchased it isn't able to be identified and they can't find gaskets that fit it. I have to give them the original exhaust and throw that back on there :-( sigh...i guess i'll have to investigate what exhaust this is and have them throw it back on once I do. How's the factory exhaust sound? The exhaust that was on the truck was awesome, always popped when letting the engine rev down which I loved...oh well.

Take some pics of the exhaust and post it up, I'm sure someone here will be able to ID it for you. :)

I want rid of the diesel UPS truck sound pretty bad at this point... I'd say bad. Granted if it's the UPS truck dropping off goodies for me like parts and ammo, it's a different story.

You can run OEM gaskets with most headers, I believe. Was the exhaust leak at the block or at the collector flange?

Ok, so it appears the leak was at where the cat-back connects with the headers? at least i think they're headers, did the srt10 come with headers stock? either way, i'm running on the stock exhaust...it's terrible, I start the truck and I can't tell that it's running. ugh. I still have to take a pic of the exhaust that came on the truck to help ID it.

They came with manifolds stock

Ok so it turns out I had the stock manifold (bleh), these are the pieces that were aftermarket, they just look like normal piping that were using the stock muffler back.

I'm assuming that since I don't see any cats in this part of the exhaust removed that the previous owner was running without cats...or at least 2 of them. I miss this sound though, it sounded so mean, they took them off because of the massive leak and were stating that they couldn't find gaskets to fit them...i don't see where gaskets would be? am I just missing something?

So I'm assuming the leak was between the manifold and the catless mids? Would gaskets be needed to make that connection?
