It’s already been almost two months and #1900 is still sitting with her malfunctioned T-56. I’ve been too busy working and dreading having to buy a new or rebuilt tranny. While cleaning out her glove box recently I found her owner’s manual. When I opened it her warranty information was still listed in it. 84 months. 70k miles and zero deductable.. Hmmm.. I’ve head her since new for 59 months and she’s at 60k now. I contacted a local shop (not a dealership) and gave them the information. They called and found out the warranty will cover her for a brand NEW T-56 once they tear it out and show that the inner’ds have been cooked. All’st I’d have to do is provide a new clutch and throwout bearing and then they will slap them in at no charge since the tranny would be out anyway… A little extra kicked in for installing the 4.56’s I have and that will be done too. Outstanding. That’s gonna get her back on the road quickly without tearing a hole in my wallet.

I'm not even sure what my warranty was, or is, but, I'm glad you mentioned it. I'll check when I get home. Thanks

I just hope that they don't read the remarks about the 4:56s and invalidate your warranty for modifying the drivetrain.... Yes, I know that the 2005s have that rear end ratio. But technically, it's still a modification for an '04.

I am one who (unlike some) had both good and bad experiences with Dodge over my clutch/tranny issues.....

I wish all your luck to be good, Anthony.....

Tim, I don't think I would have them start with the rear end until the work is signed sealed and delivered. I'm in no hurry to get her back to drive her. And it's not a Chrysler warranty. It's a third party comprehensive warranty that I purchased with the 10. They were recently sending me letters to extend if I needed to. Had it been a Chrysler warranty I would be compelled to take it to a dealership where they would likely void it... :dontknow: As we know they would. OH, is a throw out bearing and a pilot bearing the same?

throwout bearing is integrated with the slave on our trucks..Pilot bearing resides in the crankshaft where the input shaft of the tranny sits..

let me know what they do with the old tranny...I might need some parts to repair the tranny i got from lovethistruck... Im just hoping it wasnt the needle bearings in the 5/6 synchro that let go..although im quite sure it was

At 96k I don't worry about warranties anymore !!! Glad you can get your tranny done though !!!

Good to hear......#1900 has Health Ins

Did you buy an extended plan or is this simply what everyone had?

When I purchased her back in 2005 I opted NOT to purchase the Chrysler warranty. Instead I thought I should purchase a third party extended warranty. I was told before buying her that Chrysler was notorious for screwing customers over. Plus I worked for Nissan a little while but long enough to see that service departments don't like doing warranty work. Warranty doesn't pay as much as an outright labor charge. So I figured Chrysler, by knowing their vehicle well, would eventually void my warranty because of the slightest mod just so'd they can charge me directly instead of a warranty paying the bill.. A third party warranty company :dontknow: may not be so darn strict and I will have the work done at a reputable major transmission shop instead.

What warranty provider do you have?
If you don't mind I'd rather not say quite yet until it's installed.. :DI'm sure you'd understand why.

3RD party warranties are 10X more strict than chrysler. I have to deal with 3rd part extended warranties all day long and they are by far the worst to deal with. Read your contract...most say any mod (cold air intake, exhaust included) will null and void your contract. With a repair as large as a trans they will send an inspector to find any mod they can to get out of paying a claim. Just my 2 cents of nearly 15 years dealing with them. I hope they dont send an adjuster to take a look.
