Speaker sizes,

The 3 1/2 in the dash does anyone know if a 4 inch can squeeze in there no problem??

as well what size have you replaced the 6/9 in the door with.. not a fan of the oval speaker distorts sound..

and what about the center speaker in the dash?

i have searched for the little center speaker before, with no luck.

might want to PM 5 0 bait, Frank, to see if he can help ya

ya ive spoke in depth to several high end sound quality companies and they say ditch the center speaker as it would just cause interference on the soundstage.. so were dropping that speaker ..

and going with 4 inchers in dash 6.5 and tweeter in door, 12 in the rear maybe some 6.5s in the back in a custom enclosure with the sub..

Like you said just cut the wires on the center speakers (there soldered in) I wouldn't go with a 4" in the dash but that me. I went with some polk DBs and have been happy.

If I had to do it over again i would do a set of components and put the tweeters in the dash with mids in the door and still do the full rang in the back. I would say buy your stuff off ebay for sure. Most listing you can get a squaretrade warranty on the stuff and you pay like half. The only thing i would buy else where is what your brains are going to be (new HU or a JL cleansweep) and i would buy that from crutchfield because there customer support is the best.

Another thing to remember is your skill level (if you are doing the install) or the skill level of someone else (if you are having someone else do it). I did my own work and I feel like install what ever I wanted (however I have yet to work with fiberglass so if making my own FG enclosure i haven't done yet but i know my limits). With the truck I knew I was going to drive it on the weekend and enjoy the truck more than the music so i went more for a ease of install and good to great sound. That the main reason I didn't take out the stock NAV or did more custom speakers. I just did a JL cleansweep and more or less drop in speakers (modded the stock box for the polk sub and need brackets for the doors). Just as you did with your motor A LOT of guy with these trucks drop them off to a shop and have them do it for them. Just because some has stuff doesn't mean they did it them selves.

05srt10carson don't take those last two line as they are directed towards you. That was just a general statement about people in general. You just happen to the post before mine.

have you done the rear set yet ? the 5 1/4 behind the seats.

I have 6.5in components in the front doors with tweeters and an extra set of tweeters in the dash. 5.25in speakers in the rear doors, Kenwood 7in screen in the dash, JL Audio 10in sub under rear seat, a JL amp for the sub and another JL amp for the speakers.

Hey thanks for the input guys, for some reason I did not see my thread had any replies untill today.

And nope no rears yet... but the plan keeps evolving the more and more I dig into this audio game.. Its been 15yrs since i was in it and everything is different.. The brands who use to be topnotch are now bottom of the barrel etc...

I found some nice Focal's for the speakers and been offered a smoking deal but they are still a little pricy so not sure exactly how im going to go about it.

I have a set of diamond audio 5 1/4 component set. :dontknow: brand new. pay for shipping bro.

I did Polk equipment all the way around in my Hemi truck. I was happy with how it turned out, wouldn't win any shows, but provided a good clean and powerful sound. Part of this vid shows my subs and the FG box I made in action:
