Spoiler or no Spoiler?

My truck was bornded wiff a whing an' boy does it fly!
Super fly on da hi-way to heaven!
Without the wing, it has not character. I still get lots of double takes when people drive by or I pass them..
I guess without the wing ...you can call it the Stealth Ram...Stealth SRT?

The wing on the 04's produces about 165 Lbs. of downforce at speed according to Chrysler. The World speed record run was with the tail gate up and with the wing too! Chrysler definatly would have left the tailgate down for a few more miles per hour IF IT WORKED. Chrysler (Dodge) did spend some time in the wind tunnel testing the SRT-10 aerodynamics(Remember NASCAR Truck racing). The front Splitter and brake ducts are not just for looks, THEY WORK. Just look at how efficient they are at blowing all your brake dust out on to your wheels!
If you drive with the tailgate up you can get close to 1% better milage per tank. Try it. The air does flow down into the bed and slams into the tailgate at first. BUT it starts to tumble in a rolling action and continues to do this. The clean air then flows over the cab and on top of the tumbling air and flows right on out over the wing and tailgate. It's kind of like having a angled bed cover from the top of the cab to the top of the tailgate. If you leave the tailgate down creates a vacuum behind the cab, it can actually cause more turbulance and take slightly more power to move at speed.
Just my 2 cents,

Whatever, you guys removing the wings are the same type that did the same thing to the 1969 Dodge Daytona and the 1970 Plymouth Superbird back in the early seventies. Sure, you don't need that big of a wing on a street car, but it is what DEFINES the character of those cars. Same will be said for our trucks in 30 years!!

Good answer Greg.

This poor fella got into the wingless debate.....:D Look where it got him.:D

Yep you are correct. I read an article about this a few months ago. Over there in Ann Arbor, there was some experimantation done about this.
You would think that logic would say that with the tail gate down you would improve your aerodynamics...but it is the exact opposite.
I mentally chuckle when I see people with their tail gates down..then I think too that they might be trollin'...:)
