Hi guys,

I am currently customizing the engine bay and will be buying Tony's new coil packs when they arrive. Tony states that the only mod to install the coil packs is that the OEM plugs need to be gapped 0.10 which is fine, I understand that. Question, I'm going to look at getting some new spark plugs (doing my research) and the shop below list a dozen brands/styles and pre-set gaps. What are the OEM spark plugs gapped at? Just curious as if they are 0.30 and I need to gap them 0.10 for the coil packs, should I look at getting new plugs that are already pre-set at 0.40 or 0.45 and therefore not need to gap them? Shit, am I even making any sense???? LOL I'm looking at either the NGKs or the Champions.

Thanks,
Carl

Carl,

I believe our stock champions are gapped at 0.035", so you'd want 0.045" to gap a hundredth higher for Tony's coils. Even if you get pre-gapped plugs, check them before you install them.

Now if Stink would only hurry up on those coils...:D

Thanks mate, in hindsight, I could have just removed a plug and run the part # through Google to get my answer lol but this is probably easier at this stage (1:57am) lol. Cool, at least I know that what ever plug I get, the end result has to be 0.045" of gap. Ps: My bad, I didn't add the 1 decimal place. Yes I will check them all and look at indexing them. Just out of curiosity, I see the NGKs are pre-gapped at 0.044", is that suffice or does the 0.001" actually make a difference lol?? Last but not least I agree, where's our coil packs Tony!!?? :D  :p

10-4 on checkin the plugs, pregapped or not. new or just checkin them.

if ya gap them a hundredth ".01" she might not start. ".010" is called for.

just a bit of an up date on the coils, cold air & Stinker's coils =:burnout:

when she hits the power band its like turnin on a switch:rock:

oh Carl, were ya goin to index the plugs??????

Im not too mechanically savy so can someone break down what the coils packs do as in performance wise?

they provide the spark to the plugs, bigger coil = bigger spark and bigger bang (higher burn ratio) inside the cylinder =more power

if ya go to JTS Venom Performance, a vendor here, & look at the Viper coil thread. there are before & after dyno reports & updates on m.p.g., etc. on the coils & some photos also

the oem coils drop off at a medium rpm, whhere as the new ones take it to the end with a larger and better spark.

thus a touch better throttle response and better power thru the rpm band.

ZXC posted up some results of more hp, and more mpg:rock:

Do they fit under the stock manifold?
