Suggestions for mounting a front plate (arrggh) on my new SRT-10

I'm in Columbus w/o a front plate on my 05 RC.

I will NOT be drilling into my TWO THOUSAND DOLLAR bumper.

my truck is over a year old, and I still have the dealer paper plates on it :)

Don't get out much :D

I have used 100% clear silicone glue before and it worked great, with no holes to patch and its easily removed. You can buy a thin clear protector from Walmart to stop the rock chips.

i dont have a front plate either. i have been ticketed several times and have had every ticket dropped.

i just tape it on, take a picture, save it on the computer, go to court in another vehicle and just print the same picture out and go to court.

$10 court fee and that is all

No Plate - Jail here!!

I think as far as front plates goes - it looks alright!

Just do it...do it...

MIne was already installed by the dealer when I bought my truck. It sucks but it's not THAT big of a deal. I'd just put it on. :dontknow:

Yeah just put the plate on and get over it. That way i see it, I hate to give the police an easy reason to pull me over. It really doesnt look that bad

Tried to get away with putting it in the front window but the cop said it had to be on the front bumper no exceptions, and yeah the bracket is just fugly.

According to your laws... IT DOES NOT say front bumper required. It just says plain view... so I would put it in your front window... and keep a copy of this statute printed in your truck.. so when you pulled over... you can tell the cop to "talk to the hand" in so many words...

Uhh, maybe it's just me but I would definitely NOT quote statutes and have a police officer "talk to the hand".

You're gonna end up with tickets for every moving violation he can find. And if yer lucky you won't get a knot on your noggin. :dontknow:

Thats why I said "in so many words...".

My experience with police officers especialy those in Iowa (particullary Cedar Rapids)... the chief of police (no names mentioned) was actually tape recorded stating "do whatever it takes to issue a fine or ticket... even if it means breaking the law yourself!!!"

Most police are on your side, and in your best interest.. but there are some departments that are out just to make revenue for the state/city.

I know this because I know the person that recorded him making that statement...

yeah dont smart off like i did.

he said your truck is registered in houston and you are in pearland and i pulled you over to ask.

i said i didnt know having my truck registered in a city placed me under geographical limitations.

i got 4 citations. be careful.

no front plate, 42 in a 40, headlights too bright and smoked out tails.

That's so dumb it's not even funny.

And, "headlights too bright"? Ummm...was he carrying a light meter or something?

In a case like yours, I *would* go to court. Just so the judge could publicly humilate and/or reprimand the officer.
