Supercharger tune without supercharger installed

What would happen if you run the truck with an SCT paxton tune but you don't have the supercharger installed? Since the MAP sensor is not seeing boost it would run OK right?

The reason I'm asking is I want to be able to break in the new engine but I don't want that interrupted by any supercharger belt problems since I will working out a dedicated belt drive. I can't leave the stock tune as I have changed injectors, etc.

Anyone see any problems with this that I am missing?
 
Try it out see how it runs. Mine runs like ass on the factory tune with the blower installed, not sure about the other way around.
 
As long as the injectors you are using are mapped in the PCM you should be great! It may run a hair rich in areas but should have significant timing pulled also so may run like a dog, but safe. When I mean "run like a dog" it just won't pull near as it would with a NA timing map.

So a "supercharger" tune pulls timing even when not under boost? At least that won't hurt the engine, only drop some power.

I just wanted to make sure it wouldn't run too rich and wash the cylinders down. This thing has taken waaaay too long to get going again and I don't want to f it up.
 
I would say to break it in with the S/C on it like you built the engine for,it's only going to be hard on it if your driving it into the ground,drive it as your builder recommends and it will be fine.

Usually a tune will have different timing thru the RPM band but YES most timing retard will come as the BOOST REFERENCED MAP sensor goes into boost.;):burnout:

I would also say the same. If your gonna run a S/C on it, break it in with it on the engine. Mine was all forged and broke in with the Paxton on the engine.
 
From what I have researched on different types of engine break in procedures, using some sort of forced induction actually improves engine break in. You really want to seat the rings in the same manor that it will be used daily. The psi from the sc will "push" the rings out harder than they would be with out the sc. Also, I would be cautious about it running so rich without the sc (which will probably happen) during the break in procedure. I have a feeling the the rings will not seat correctly with the excess fuel. I could be way off base on the subject...but this is just my two cents based from my past research.

Edit: Also, the break in period for a force induction motor is much shorter than that of a naturally aspirated motor....again from what I have read

That's a very good point about the psi from the sc helping to seat the rings. I didn't even think about that part.

without the supercharger belt the truck will run VERY rich and you will end up washing the rings. Break it in all together just take it easy on it. you can get on it too just dont let the RPMS fall quickly when you get on it. stay in gear and let the truck slow the RPMS back down

Just my 2 cents though

Yep that is the way I want to break it in too. I read this page: Break In Secrets--How To Break In New Motorcycle and Car Engines For More Power
and it makes sense to me. I just hope this belt drive doesn't give me any trouble.
 
do not break it in on a supercharger tune, wash the rings and the bearings out and thro all that new build in the trash, get a reg tune ,

That'll work tim. Just get Torrie to send you an N/A tune for the larger injectors and you'll be fine.
