T56 Tranny Failures???

I had the same thing happen to me. What it was ? Not sure got it replaced under warranty.

I was driving back from Nashville in 6th 90% okay maybe 60% of the time got off the interstate and grind................... no 1st or reverse. I had it towed in. Its a bad feeling. Good luck with this!

Tick is known for their rebuilds. They are the only ones I would trust, But being in CA. It would be a hard call.

1) Send it off to be built. Lookin like that'll cost around $1200 after all is daid and done.

2) Pick up a used stock tranny, then build the one I have now whenever I have the time and money. I have a guy checking on this for me.

3) Get the parts from Tony, and build it here. Waiting on Tony to get back to me on some prices.

Which ever way is the cheapest:dontknow: Once I get this figured out, we'll figure out when we want to do it. I'd like to get the truck running, but I'm not in a real hurry. Whenever's good for you man.

It's no problem Tony. I don't know shit about trannys:D so price up everything I MIGHT need, and anything that makes sense for me to upgrade while I'm in there.

Also, there's no sense in me putting a 2 year old centerforce back in there. Probably go with the Spec clutch. All my other mods sitting around waiting to be installed will have to wait:( :dontknow: :D

Sweet. I kinda want to do it here... put Ferrari's ass to work:D It'd be a good learning experience for me, as long as we don't f**k anything up:confused: :eek:
 
what you can do is pull the trans and then stand the trans up (tailshaft in the air) and take the tail shaft off to see if there is any carnage in the back end of the trans (gears 5 and 6 plus reverse). very simple to do you just have to make sure all shift rails line up in the holes they're supposed to when putting it back on.

Also you can stand trans on output shaft (if you can make it steady) and pull the adapter plate off. this will allow you to look at 1-4 gears. now since the input shaft is also 4th gear just be careful pulling adapter plate off. you'll be able to see the shift guide thingy and also why reverse shift fork may not be engaging.

After you do this i would then make you're decision on what you want to do since you'll have an idea of what is going on.

I don't have the money... plus I like the 6 speed:D You're more than welcome to come on over.

a th400 doesnt have an overdrive ;)
