I remember starting a pole about newbies once:D Shawn shut that one down and then started another to help clear the air;)

I personally thought that exercise was somewhat beneficial:)

Shawnie, thanks for making it a poll.... And if I do say so myself, a righteous one.

I voted no (as mentioned) to banning what's his fkn name. But the forum at large (at least the miniscule minority who actually contribute) have every right to call shit "shit" when it presents itself- and to nip it in the bud.

That's what a forum is- a place where ideas are shared and differences are debated. And that principle should remain (even and especially) when the item of discussion is one of conduct or similar issues.

I have been well known for what I do best- calling shit on people. Whether it is racism, sexism, religious bigotry, personal abuse, personal responsibility, cowardice, tokenism, cheap shots (when they are hypocritical) and all manner of unfairness. It isn't because I'm perfect.... far from it. "Fairness Cop" just seems to be my job in life and I assume it without hesitation. And honestly, I don't really care if I hafta' stand alone in so doing. I do it because it's what I think is right.

But in order to prevent my indictments from being perceived as a purely personal, a good brother here thought it prudent to inquire of the forum at large. And the results were arguably unanimous.

Thanks.

I've never watched "Boston Legal".... But I may have to start for the sake of Denny Crane. He looks like a great character...

I just didn't like the whole voting to Ban somebody...that was it. The guy kinda took offense to my statement...no biggie. Golly Gee Whiz...like I should get my feelings hurt anymore, right? LOL!;)

As far as him being a jerk on that one thread started about somebody trying to get help for their house...that was low. But I'm pretty sure I've kicked a dude in the ballz before...but that was in a fight where I thought the guy was gonna hurt me. Not on a forum where we just talk shop, smack and boobs!:)

Either way, I can't say that talking it out is detrimental or beneficial on this forum anymore...one wrong word typed out here can be seen as inflamatory even when you dont mean to be...I don't have any change on me, so that is a free statement! ;):D:D:D

Sorry, Kris. But this was not an actual and literal attempt to ban someone. The forum doesn't have those specific democratic rights. Most people know this. It was symbolic exercise to express disapproval with one individual.

Anyone who's so devoid of human quality as to start a thread titled "which celebrity would you like to see dead next", deserves (in the very least) to have himself placed under scrutiny- and if that results in a majority expression of disapprobation, then justice has been served.

For the record, that has not always been the case.

Most of this forum is silent on just about everything. The majority (literally 1000's of so called members might occasionally) come here to derive information about the SRT-10 truck. They read tech stuff at their leisure or possibly even just show up for some light entertainment. In short, they don't really don't give a shit one way or the other. (They have no actual investment here)

The tiniest minority- those of us who've thrown ourselves headlong into this family- are the only ones who are willing to take responsibility to make mention of questionable people and their irresponsible acts. In so doing, we prevent the VTCOA from being a family with a lousy reputation and (as a result it is) a much nicer place (in which) to spend one's time.

Yer welcome.

It was more than just that one episode Kris. He has been an ass on almost everything he has been involved in.

Hmmmmmm.....I didn't know about him wishing people dead. That's kinda pathetic if you ask me. Sounds like he's an attention hound.;)

Now, looking back on his response to me when he said he was devoid of empathy and some other junk like that.....I can truly realize he's a jerk.

However, I unfortunately don't have the time to dedicate like I used too. And I just happened upon that Ban thread. Like I said, I don't like those kind of threads. But that doesn't mean that I don't think it should happen...;)

No matter how you slice it though...the jerks come and go. I am glad that the Sentinels stand the test of time and watch over us....but he is one of many...and there will be many more. This is not Disneyworld, nor is it Dave and Busters, and it doesnt seem to be the Thunder Dome either. So why is Scooby Douche gettin under everybodies skin? :D:D:D (I'm really proud of myself on that one!:))

But...fkn fk that fkn fk fk if that is the will of the people. I personally might be happier. I would much rather just see him disappear without having to talk it out on here though. I am tired of drama these days. Hence the short amount of time I have to spend on here...sooo many things to worry about these days....:(

However, I miss y'all that have been my friends. Tim, Mike, Denise, Jeff, John, Scott, Jake,....awwww heck...this list is too damned long! Miss you!

Only 4 people here can ban someone. Other than that, "ban" is just another kind'a "cuss word" used to put some pazzazz into the rhetoric.

I am a member of a few forums and typically i find them to be one out of 2 ways.

One- They are heavily moderated and their is no name calling, profanity(of any kind) or personal attacks allowed.

Even with their strict guidelines it is a very succesful forum and have tons of tech stuff to read.

2nd---a forum where profanity is allowed thruout the forum, tons of personal attacks, sarcastic remarks, you name it. Everyone there just talk shit and their are very few helpful posts but overall is still a succesful forum.

I have found the vtcoa is a happy medium of the two. Their are members who have been here since its inception(vtcoa) and hell even when SC'rs kits were still prototypes and trucks were still being bought for 45k--plus....

All of these members work really hard to develop the forum to what it is today. Although are mods do a great job of letting things run their course around here their are still members who like to keep the place a certain way.
however with time most of us will move on as many have and well I only can help this place will stay true to its roots and be for the members and by the members. Before more members stop posting as trend has been going

Us lost souls have no where else to go

So, I'll be here for a while

It's true. That has been the trend....

I have struggled from time to time with whether or not to stay.

Your support has helped me to continue.....

Thanks, bro.......

This is daily therapy.......

Most things on here I find are on the positive side even in the face of loss. I realize that as bad as things are, I'm still fortunate. In carefully considering this thread given the two options, it is a benefit.

One, it reminds me of who I am and what kind of person I would hope people see in me.

Two, everything I type is a reflection on me. Not any one else.

Three, true friends are hard to come by, why squander that opportunity.

Four, we should always care, even when we don't want to. I will have to admit on this one there are still people on this forum that I wouldn't help. Mainly, because I just don't like them. I don't respond to there posts and I don't wish them luck or observe moments in their life. I may need to work on this one (maybe).

Five, all the money in the world does not improve character.

Six, Self importance, well, is exactly that.....

Seven, Just because you can, should you.

Eight, Tim, John and Roy's post should be read carefully, if you have to ask why, you've never read their posts carefully.

Nine, the truck may have brought us together, friendships are what keep us coming back.

Ten, I will miss Miss Loosey every day......

For most, this won't mean much and quite frankly maybe it shouldn't. These are things that I've learned over the years and I'm sure I will remember them for a long time. I've learned to not burn bridges and try to repair ones that are still mendable.

So, back to the question, was it a benefit. Yes....

The reason for yes, is it should give people the insight or maybe personal commitment to read and learn. What they learn if anything is up to them

Definately your best post in my memory.

Thoughtful and introspective, yet hopeful....

Nicely done, Jeff.....
