I was at Autozone and I asked about a 172 thermostat and they told me they didn't carry one but they did have a 162 and a 192. Will these be suitable?

162 sounds a little low, check with one of the site vendors and they have a 172.

162 is not high enough for proper operation.

172 is the lowest you should go on a street driven vehicle, and that is borderline almost too cold. IMHO.

I know that out vendors, Boomer (XMetal), Avondale (Dragon), and JMB Justin (Justin) all carry the 172 thermostat and can get you one asap.

Good mourning Jack. Just so we all know.( meaning me ) What is the stock one?

Without the proper fan setting on the pcm the Tstat is useless. I had the pcm flashed and istalled the 172 tstat the temp never got passed 185, and this is on a hot humid day 100 deg here in Houston. I have since removed the pcm for the N2o but kept the 172 tsat the temp now reaches about 200 and the weather outside is 75/80. Normal operating temp

Go with x-metal. He have 172 t-stat for $30. I bought one from him. The sad thing is I haven't install mine yet! :(
