thinkin of going straight pipes,yay or nay?

I have the same set-up.Seems to work for me,too.I did install a cross-over in front of the muffler on Stinkers recommendation.That took a lot of the cackle and pop out.The MagnaFlow was louder and deeper,but too loud for me.The B&B should give the deepest tone.
 
I agree with most, it will be to loud. The police will probably pull you over. As it is with my headers, catless mids and maganflow I let off the gas when a cop is near.
 
would it be feasible to get an exhaust shop to do 3" all the way back from the headers, put in an X pipe, and then some mufflers? I really just want deep and rumbly, with a hint of nascar :) if so, what readily available mufflers would be my best bet?

also where could I get some o2 sims, and do they have to be in the exhaust pipe or do they plug in and tie off somewhere?
 
My neighbor down the street has a Straight pipe on his SS Camaro Slp. His car is hella Loud. He is always getting fixing tickets:burnout:
 
SRT11 the single chambered flows will give exactly that.!

I;m in love with the sound! and the gain of low end.
 
ike, I take it you mean the single chamber flowmasters?

I'm seriously debating doing 3" off the headers, into an x pipe, thru some flowmasters, with some o2 sims. cost is 1/3rd or less of retail of doing catless mids and cat back. and going 3" the whole way can't possibly be TOO much different than doing good catless mids and cat back... should definitely be deep :)

o2 sims though, do they have to plug into the exhaust pipe, or can you just plug the simulator into the o2 sensor and then wire tie it up out of the way somewhere under the vehicle? how specific are the o2 simulators? I see a bunch of them on e-gay that say they work for any vehicle 1996 and newer...
 
There are many kinds of 02 sims, depending on what you get, you can get the ones that Replace the 02 sensors (hook them up to the wiring harness and zip-tie them out of the way), or the ones that wire in-line with the stock 02's still in the pipe, or the mechanical sims that space it away from the exhaust but still screwed in; finally there is the aftermarket PCM which removed the 02 sensors completely :)

Out of the the trucks I've heard or ridden in, IMHO Patrick's RC had the best exhaust sound.....it was aggressive, but not overbearing....can't remember what he ran, but he had a Paxton and an SC is a must :D

I think Boomer's has the plug-ins for the sims, not sure....

I've got a magnaflow catback, loudest I would recommend for a daily driver.....on short trips, louder would be a blast, but the exhaust drone tends to be a PITA on 1-hour + trips....
 
SRT-11...remember keep the front sims in place, i found that 'mechanical' sims for the rear is the easist and best way to go.
 
maybe (likely) I'm confused, how many sensors are there in the whole exhaust stream? which need to be bypassed or modified if you lose cats? I'd ideally like to go 3" back from the back of the headers, through an x pipe, through two flowmaster (or similar) mufflers and out the back. I got a couple of ballpark quotes locally for 400-500 bucks to custom make & install the whole shebang, and that's basically the price of either a cat back or the catless mids, and in this case I'd have 3" the whole way and get the x-pipe too (which aparently does away with the popping). does this make more sense or should I just go magnaflow with boomer or JMB catless mids?
 
There are 4 sensors. 2 fronts just screw in and the 2 rears need to be manipulated with the spacers.

Well first off, don't go with Straight Pipes... i did it for 2 weeks and yeah it's not fun. I've got a video and i'll get around to posting it so you all can hear what it's like. :)

Second off, the magnaflow setup is really nice. It has the loudness, the growl, and slight popping noises but it's all just perfect nothing overbearing! :rock:
 
OK, sold! I'm gonna go magnaflow and stock cats, and K&N intake. I've been told that losing cats is only good for high HP trucks (600+) because the lack of restriction causes a low end torque loss when you're not moving as much air. You gain 10-20hp at the end of the powerband but i'd rather have the low end torque!!
 
i went with just the muffler removed from my 06 qc. put in two straight pipes and sounds good a wot and like an angry v6 at idle. good for now till magnaflow comes out with one for the 06.
 
dode. you are SO the guinney pig on this one :)

I just ordered magnaflow on Wed or I actually would have tried this out for ya!
