This or that...

Depends on what you want...totally different vehicles...the heart is the same the application and impact are different.

The make about 1800 Vipers a year and have been for a long time.

These trucks were made for three years. Had a guy at a stop light today say: "I've only seen one or two of those in the past two or three years..."

Answer your own question...what do you want, why do you want it?

Don't delegate to us...most of us are pretty biased.

Sorry...delegation is my job...I'm a 'boss' :motz: :p
True, the ultimate answer is mine. I want both dammit! :D

There is the answer! Now just convince her! I have failed so far, but will continue the campaign.

Best way to look at it and ultimately decide and the way I look at things:

In a parking lot early morning sit two pristine vehicles. One Viper, the best spec, best model year and color that you like in one parking space. Two parking spaces to the right sits a Viper truck, same pristine condition, your favorite color, options and year. You are told that you can have 1, take the keys, start it up and drive off, for good. No catches, it's totally yours. Which keys would you grab first? Honestly, think long and hard about it, which would would you take. Whatever you choose is the car of choice. ;)

.

In a related question, does doing head work without a cam (or vice versa) make sense? What does a reasonable head and cam job cost? I already know how much the bolt-ons cost.

Thanks. Cars are cheaper than women. I'm single so there's no one to say no and I have some time to play. So I play with the vehicles!

Heres the deal...Dont worry so mucha bout forged pistons int he viper. Get the 01. The 01 with Headers, Exhaust, 1.7RR, 3.55s will run deep into the 11s with slicks. Trucks just dont compare, I have been out with my viper and been around the trucks, the viper gets the attention. Its alot faster, better looking, and holds its value more.

I was waiting for Carlo to chime in (BurntRubber). He's had both so he's a good guy to listen to. I really don't think there's any comparison. They both have the same heart but everything else is completely different. I bought the truck because I needed a truck with seating for 4 and wanted the fastest stock 4 door truck I could buy. I traded a Supercharged Ford Harley Davidson edition for it because the supercharger was growling and ready to pop. If you don't need or want a truck I don't see what the question is. The thing I do like about the trucks is that you don't have to slow down for speed bumps or driveways. They will plow over anything in the road.

I guess it's mainly a question about performance vs money/value - $30K truck + $10-15K in upgrades vs a $50K viper. Plus the question of resale/trade, because in 2 years I would want to get something else (foreign...sorry) in either case. I am more a sports car guy, don't 'need' a pick up truck.

And by the way, I bought the truck because it was the only fast car (vehicle) in my budget at the time, that I had not already had ie M3, RX7, etc.

If you put money into modding your truck don't expect anything back for it in 2 years or ever. Modded trucks take longer to sell and might even sell for less than stock. Buying a used and already modded vehicle is another story but every penny you sink in that bitch will be pissed away. No resale value at all unless you take the mods off and sell them for 50 to 75% less than you paid not including installation and removal costs. What are you waiting for? Go get that Viper.

if you are goind 03-05 remember and be careful with your mods, they have the same lousy internals the trucks do, so be prepared;)
Yeah, but the Trucks seem to hold up to a Paxton SC quite well, which gives them solid 12 second acceleration (possibly 11's w/ traction).

SRT Viper's hold up just as well with a Paxton, which mean low 11's, or TEN's w/ traction!!

Hate to say it, but the Roe SC trucks seem to be having some problems staying together. Makes me wonder how the SRT Viper's will hold up once a Roe SC is available??:dontknow:

i thought roes have been on the cars for years already:dontknow: :dontknow: :dontknow:

Roe superchargers have been in Vipers for many years...in trucks only since the fall of 2006.

There are not the complaints about piston failure in the Vipers. There have been a few but the consensus was those failures have been trying for too much HP w/out changing the internals.

What is a reasonable price on a nitrous system installed? Guy quoted me $1500-1600 complete, including acessories like window switch, rpm controls etc for 100-150 hp. PM me if necessary.

This may be a silly question, but is there a NOS setup you can use on a road course or can't use it period in this situation?

Does any one know of someone seeking a black RC? Because I will sell mine if interesed.

Yea you might want to check and make sure your that VIPER is the one you want, there is always a better viper down the road
