Thursday is Ticket Day

Let me be clear since this is all a matter of public record now, there were no other sides to the story. I stopped within 600 feet of where the cop was parked. Even the cop and the prosecutor were saying how nice of a guy I was. The judge's sentence was better then the plea offered.

So he stopped you for 120 in a.... ?

Wow! You were pushing it though!

Still, good that the judge was lenient.

Lenient? IT WAS A SPEEDING TICKET. Let me explain the finer points of speeding law, it was a speeding ticket. I just got a sentence that is longer then a first felony drug conviction, shop lifting, child endangerment or 3rd dui.

Be that as it may, he was, according to the letter of the law, lenient. He could have said, "F you, serve all 30". That's all I was saying.

I know you are pissed, I got that, and I don't blame you.

He didn't say don't serve 30 days. In VA you get 1 day credit for 1 day served. That is where the 15 days come from. If I am lucky I can get work release.

DO NOT SPEED IN VIRGINIA

Man,that sucks ! License suspended at all ? Monetary fine ?

Ask your lawyer about doing the house arrest deal.At least you could work. But,you cannot leave your house AT ALL,except work, not even go out to feed the dog.

Sorry to hear about your sentence seth... I too live in the Commonwealth and cringe everytime I see my speed creeping up past 75.

Any chance of an appeal? Probably not, but it is a thought. But, VERY unproportionate punishment when compared to DUI, etc...

I am real glad I live in Michigan. Speeding is just a fine and points.

Bill.

Here is the deal, my sentence was 6 months, with 5 suspended. In VA that means 15 days. I will probably get work release so will only be in jail for a few days and then off to a work release facility. My license is toast for 6 months except for driving to work and I had a $900 fine. The ticket said 133, although I showed my speedomter was at 116.

Tough medicine Seth. Sorry brother, but speed is the emphasis in Virginia.

One crime just cannot be compared to another...take your medicine and make good use of your time...get a couple of good books and try to make lemonade from the lemon.

Roy

I would get a tat while i'm in there and also try the ramen noodle potluck they immates prepare...I'm trying to remember what its called??????

How did you show this:dontknow: ?

Everyone laughs at me when they hear that my truck has never been over 85 on a public road, this is why.

Sorry to hear about your sentence, though. Seems unfair, but you did get a bit of a break.

I am calming down now. It is just two weeks at most 16 days. I should be able to get work release for a week of the 16 days. I guess my reaction is to just how unbelievable the sentence is for speeding.

I got a legally certified calibration. VA is the only state that defective equipment is a legitimate defense. It is probably why I got 30 instead of 43.

I understand. I remember when a judge told me that I owed 5 years of back child support for a daughter that I found out about 4 weeks earlier.  .
The sentence kinda blindsides you, not at all what you were expecting. But you'll get through it, and if you're smart, you'll be a better person in the end.

The sentence as you've reported is inequitable by comparison..... No doubt.

Drunk drivers are a fkn menace and should be punished much more severely...

To sum up... The cops are not the culprits if you ask me.... It's the excessive severity against 30 over convictions.... The sentences for DWIs vs: 30 over speeders should be reversed.... Go to the governing body, city council, the county commisioners (whomever) and plead your support for equity in the justice system....

This is county I didn't pay my child support jail, not I am going to get ass raped prison.
