Just curious guys... How much rwhp is needed before the 4:56's combined with the T-56 run out of gear in the 1/4 mile (in 4th gear)? Just figured once I do heads/cam I'll be getting close. Didn't know at what point 4:10's would become a better option!?

M&H 390's.. I don't think they make a taller DR...?

Just an estimate... but with my DR's I think I can only get about 115mph out of 4th.

Off topic, what kind of head/cam combo are you planning to install. I've been looking at combo's for awhile just wondering what your going with. Thanks.

Well... I already have some Lift and Duration #'s from Tony. I was waiting to see the turnout on Dom's NA build with Justin but I don't think thats going to happen if Dom's selling his 06. So I guess I'm going to have to get ahold of Justin and see what he has for numbers and see if he's tested any different ones and see what kind of torque curves hes got. I just don't want to sacrifice to much HP for torque. I know I sound greedy! And for heads... I think I'm going with a local guy... I can't afford what Tony wants, and I'm going to assume Justin's prices are prob about the same. I already have an extra set of heads ready to go out, and I already have new lifters... Just waiting to get going!

I've asked Justin a few times about heads. He told me he's not really into them yet. And he was concentrating on cams. (This was a while ago.) How about Greg Good i know he's not a vendor but I have not heard much about him on here for awhile.

I ran 118.15 on the 390 M&H, stock engine although my rev limiter was moved from 6,050 (factory) to 6,200. I think 118 was about 6,150.

But I've been told by a couple people not to bump my rev limit on a stock rotating assembly.

I bought my truck new in 2004, I have almost 67,000 miles, and maybe at least 300 passes on the engine and no oil use. I will be rebuilding soon, but not because it needs it....I just want a bit more power. I will be staying NA. You should be just fine until you approach 600 rwhp, assuming you don't lighten the truck, your speeds will be under 118 so you'll be safe. Now start shaving weight and adding power then you should go to the M&H Nostalgia slick (32" tall) and stay with the 4.56 gears. Shaving the rear calipers to accept a 16" Bogart (if you're serious, and by doing heads and cam you're serious) is much cheaper than changing the rear gears...and I really feel the 4.10's will cost you a bit of time( in the 1/4 mile). I calculate that you can go to 135.72 mph @ 6,200 rpm with the 32" tall M&H and 4.56 gears ( and that does not allow for any tire growth).
