I'v got a few questions..bone stock what should my truck run? i pulled an 8.620 on spray..couldn't hook up for dog crap but still pulled it off...on motor was running an 8.8 is that about right? i'm still learning to drive the truck.... so that will prob. effect the time but still thought it would be a little quicker than that..

Mine was 8.863 and 13.5 in the quarter when my truck was stock.

For a better sixty drop rear tire pressure to 22 to 24, small burnout to clean off tires or use simple green in the staging lanes, dump the clutch at an rpm where you dont get too much tire spin, shift at 5500. Slipping the clutch will burn up the stock clutch faster than a cooler full of beer going empty at a VTCOA GTG!!! LOL Beer is cheaper than a full clutch upgrade:eek: .....been there!! LOL

here the set up i was running..... Spring clamps on rear leaf springs... 33psi in rear tires......baiscly dumping the clutch around 1,000R Rpm deep stageing kinda letting the truck slowly roll as the lights come down.....and i ran an 8.8 the 1st time ever taking it to the track..so i guess i'm in the ball park of where it's sopose to be.....next mod will be 17's and some 32" slicks....and as for the clutch.... every time i run it hard it smells burnt.....and i'v driven sticks before so i was wondering if i was doing something wrong but it just seems like every body changes it out

The OEM hydrolics are what typically takes the stock clutch out. Since you have to pull the trans anyway to upgrade the master/slave, might as well upgrade the clutch ;)

In regards to the 8.8, thats typical for a stock or mild modded truck. Practice and good track conditions can improve that. If you are spraying then you should get some DR's or you are going to be wasting your time at the track ;)

Tire pressure was probably 10 lbs too high. You will resolve that with slicks. But why 17's? Go ahead and shave your calipers or go to Wilwood calipers to fit inside of 15 or 16 inch rims.

well reason i want to get 17's is i'v got a buddy..that already has a 17x10 rims that cam off his dodge..he wants next to nothing for it so thats why lol

Whats up tooloe? Those are pretty decent times stock, you should be able to pull off an 8.6 though with more practice.

Ive ran an 8.4 with just the cat delete and CAI. What you need to do is;

1) drop tire psi to 20psi---
2) dont bother with any of that removing or lowering tailgate, removing spare, folding mirrors.
3) Just do a slight scrub of tires, DO a huge burnout and you might heat up the stock clutch setup to where you might have a hard time engaging gears and possibly miss 3rd.
4) depending on track dump the clutch around 2500 to 3500 rpm and just use the throttle to ride it out.

You should get a decent run out of it, at least an 8.3

As far as I know there are NO 17" slicks that are 32" tall. The best you can find is the M&H 390-40-17 Drag radial and it is 29.5" tall.

Tell me Trainman, what gears do you have in your truck :dontknow: :dontknow: :dontknow:

I been practicing ;) ;)

Wifey.....I have 4.56 gears......See you here Saturday the 17th at Famoso?
It will be the battle of the sexes, the match race of the century, the Superbowl of Viperdome.......Ah...at least it will be FUN!!!!!

Brad...Probably not... I'll go ahead and run with only 453 RWHP and take my chances against the "Feared throughout the Land" Wifey. I must cut a good light....I must cut a good light .... I must cut
