Torque Converter and GM Solenoid

i know one thing guys when i took off my bed cover to get liner sprayed ,, i would leave the redlight sideways,, man theres a big difference in grip with the weight off bed .... more grip with bed cover on , but more weight to slow ya down a little .... :dontknow: :dontknow:

What size are your drag radials ? how tall? Could probably get a shorter tire to increase torque multiplication at the launch.

Im running M&H 390/40/17's at 17 psi. They are just a bit smaller than our 22's

old thread hijacker:D cuz if your running it up around 2500rpms and its not bogging then it should be launching pretty good unless your spinning or losing power
Truck feels like it's running fine.

M&H 390's. They're shorter than stock. So, they should be helping me.:dontknow:

your rear gear with those should be around 4.87 if tnviper told me correctly so it should pull like a mofo what air pressure did you have them set at? and also have you got it dynoed or anything to lead you that you are making the most out of your tune and what about new spark plugs and all that jazz

I went with all the guys from the TX GTG to A.R.T, I dyno'd 440 HP and 478 ft lbs TQ. My truck pulls hard off the line, I do get some slip every now and again ( could be track prep) The cooler it gets the more air I let out.....I did the 13.04 with 22 PSI in it, Outside temp was 98 F*

Ok back to me!!! Do we have a vendor who sells TQ Converters or is Suncoast the best way to go?

Guys, bring that tire pressure down! 12-14 should be your sweet spot! I just double checked( country roads rule) and ours locks at 16-1700 rpm so fort brake to about 1200 and mash on the go light. It also allows your suspension to work for you by having room to wrap the springs and lift the front of the truck. An idle launch works well too and should allow you to hook better due to the better weight transfer vs. 1500 foot braked and the suspension is loaded already.

I wonder if our converter is the same part# as the diesel our tranny comes from? A big 1 ton even the 45-5500 trucks are bound to have a looser converter. I haven't had the time to research. They should stall up to 2300? Perfect and should be relatively inexpensive. Ahhh, check the cummins forums.

I'm using HTS Transmission parts,Dusty Hawk is the owner and a member here, knows his stufff very well and will talk you trough any questions u have, excellent guy to deal with.

3000 RPM stall is about the max on the street that I would use. My Javelin has a 3000 stall and it is pretty abnoxious on the street and almost hard to drive.

Circle D is located off of 290 Ryan and would get my vote . Get a bigger trans cooler its not going to hurt any thing and since your at the track every other weekend your truck deserves it:) Decide if you are going to swap cams and plan ahead before you decide on a stall . Just my 2 cents lets make it 1 cent i haven't worked in over a year :D

Wouldn't hurt to flush the trans check the bands and see whats in the pan.

Looser = higher stall speed.

As the above link indicates, actual stall speed is related to the engine's power that it's bolted to, but with my tests and discussions with Ron at Suncoast, we believe the stocker is somewhere around 2200-2300.

I got mine used with a full billet Suncoast trans from a member here, but here's Suncoast's site where the converter is shown for $1295.

I would call and speak to Ron there if you're interested. He was very helpful.

What do you mean by looser? You have to forgive me, this is the first automatic performance vehicle I have ever owned, so I dont know anything about them. And what is ours stock? How much was it, if you dont mind?

I looked at Suncoast's site last night before I got off the forum....they got some nice stuff too. I saw the valve body they had and wondered if I should get that too if Im going to change out the TQ Converter.

James, WTF are you doing up at 4:30AM??? Im not your mother, but damn son, get some sleep!!.....LOL

I wouldn't expect so, but who knows... You want the stall speed to be at about the peak RPM of the engine. Diesel's peak much earlier. Here's a discussion on it relating to diesels:

Call and talk to Ron there - he was very helpful to me. Also, many members recommend Dusty at HTS (?) as well.

My $0.02 from several other (non-SRT) transmission upgrades: I've gone down the road of putting in an upgraded component here, another there, etc. They generally improve performance as advertised, but then you discover the next weak link. I always end up being unsatisfied until I have the whole trans built. It's a tough chunk of change to swallow, but I've never been unhappy after getting the whole thing done.

My other two rides both have built transmissions - a 98 2500 ram v-10 4x4 rockcrawler and a 01 Ford f250 powerstroke tow rig. The rockcrawler does things that most folks say can't be done in a fullsize and the tow rig tows a 36' gooseneck living quarters that is at the trucks weight limit, so they both get used heavily and it's nice not to have to worry about the trans! Note that I perform fluid exchanges and band adjustments regularly also.
