TRACTION

 Wasn't trying to offend anyone... I am not saying his prices are high compared to anything. I am just saying that it has been so long since I have modded a car (or truck in this case) that I can't believe how much the prices have gone up.

Noise in shifters is like the low rumble of exhaust gases exploding in systems without cats....pure music....to the ears of the true gearhead...
I agree, but I don't want this "vehicle" to get too far away from me. I had a car once that I went nuts on and ended up selling for about a quarter of what I had into it. It just wasn't enjoyable to drive anymore. Yeah it would run tens all day long at 3800 pounds but it not any fun for a DD. I promised myself that I wouldn't let that happen with htis truck. I like it sooooooo much :)

Just think of the thrill per dollar! That is the real return on your investment.

LOL, I will!!!

I keep thinking I will do the easy stuff like a shifter and lowering it a little bit. I have been reading about the Caltracs too so maybe I will give them a shot. :D

Hey Tom, if you are referring to my post, I wasn't offended. I was just trying to explain two things. First is why we don't really have a lot to choose from when it comes to modifing our trucks, and second was why it costs what it costs.

Sorry if I came across wrong. Was not my intent.

Gotcha!

I was just trying to explain that it has been a while since I have done something like this... I think the vendors I have been reading about are doing awesome at getting things out for us and our addictions! :D

Off Course

I am impressed on how far off traction this went. Good Job.

Heh heh...few threads here have GPS. :)

Since segue's are for kids, I'll try to get things back on track:
Part of the traction issue with the RC's is the shifter. Depending on how long you desire to have traction, hitting 3rd every time would be nice.

The drag guys have had problems in the past, and thus aftermarket shifters (like Boomer's). They are great if you don't want to miss a gear.

For daily drivers, missing 3rd is a pretty rare occurance. It's only happened to me a few times, and none of them have affected my E.T. :)

Moving on.....

Tires are another point to consider. The Pirelli Scorpions are a high-performance tire designed for very dry conditions. They are also a super-soft compound that will wear quickly. Expect fewer miles from these than your average 195/70-16.
There are tire options out there, ranging from decent price to uber-silly. Check into their compound and wear ratings as well.

QUESTION: Have any RC owners tried replacing their "spool up" shock with something stiffer (or softer, or adjustable) in order to get a bit more bite?
