Still talking greek to me.
crawl up under there the pan on the tranny has quite a few bolts on it. take about half of them out and loosen the others up fluid will start coming out, youll need a big pan to catch it is a messy job regardless. i got a new gasket with filter but old one wouldve worked. if i remember correctly there's a crossmember in the way too. i'll look under it agian tonight at the house. its been a while since i did mine. i want to take it to a dealership and have the bands adjusted. ive heard it helps. dealer could change fluid out too about 100.00 in this neck of the woods.

2.25-2.50 quarts..fill till it comes out the fill hold (like a differential)

When I did the shifter and drained my trans I needed about 3.75 quarts to refill mine.

You know I just realized I already had this done earlier this year. And you are right about the bands. I had mine adjusted and I no longer hit the rev limiter at the end of 2nd gear.

i need to have this done pretty quick then. will have fluid and filter changed while they have the pan off agian.

It is recommend at 15K miles. Once I had this done my truck shifted much harder and chirps second.

Stingray you ever tried the Redline sythetic?
I have not. But I also have never heard anything bad about it either. The only reason I would have used the Mobil is because the engineers at Tremec recommended it. :dontknow:

Is this fluid only in RC's? If not then how do I change mine?
The gear lube/syntorq that Red was taking about in the original post is only used in the manual trans. Yours can still be changed out to the sythetic ATF like FSTJACK did.

I use Redline oil in my Ducati and it's great. Any thoughts of using Royal Purple. We use this stuff in gear boxes and 250 hp air compressors at work and it is amazing.

I have used Royal Purple in the FZ1 all summer in 80 - 90 f all summer and it worked really well...

just add a couple bottles (approx 8oz's) of mopar diff friction modifier to the t-56 trans cures all shifting problems.

Thats what I had to put into my differential when I changed out the gears. Two bottles as well.

What is the stuff? Super slippery slick stuff? :dontknow: LOL

Your attention please. I would like to make a comment on this thread. both the auto an manual transmission have been talked about and the beginning post was about the manual 6 speed. I don't want someone to use the wrong fluid in the auto, based on the recommended fluids for the manual trans.

Good point!! Thanks for the important safety tip Egon.

Anyone have a part number for the filter in the manual??
There is no filter in the T56, just a couple of magnets. To get to the magnets you have to pull the rear housing off the trans.

Wonder if I could use the redline ATF sythetic in the auto in the QC?

and how many QTs did the QC hold dang I looked that up awhile ago and forgot?:dontknow:
