Tremec / Centerforce problems..

Christ... Alright, get this. So i went to the transmission shop today and
the guy said he never heard of a Tremec...... :( He was extremely helpful
and very careful about everything he did regarding my vehicle but he
doesn't really know why it is acting the way it is. I plan to go back over
later today and help him take out the transmission so we can inspect
all the internals.

IF the flywheel looks fine, the clutch looks fine, and my
slave doesn't show any signs of leakage then i am prepared to buy a new
master cylinder, replace the flywheel insert, replace the clutch disk, and
bleed the system again with his help. I definitely will be taking pictures of
all of this so you folks can see the stuff yourself..

I'm having second opinions on this guys ability but he's been in business
for 25 years.. That has to stand for something... But i don't really have
a choice, only other places around me are Aamco or little import shops
for ricers. :(

Thanks man :D

On another note, is it possible/would i want to just replace the clutch disk
and not the pressure plate? or is that a bad idea?:dontknow:

EDIT: I just got off the phone with Larry @ Centerforce and he said that they don't stell the Clutch plate's alone so if i want a new clutch i need to buy
the pressure plate and disc together.:\ Anyone have a new clutch set they're trying to sell :D

Honestly with your mods I would just go with a stocker again work even better with the slave uprgrade. Sean has a better then the stocker for the same price I beleive he said it can even handle up to 800hp, but t=dont quote me It has been a while since I asked about it.

Yeah, i had the stock clutch go up at 5k? or earlier? I'm not sure but
it was slipping pretty bad.. I just find it real hard to believe that my
clutch might actually be bad. What exactly happens if the clutch doesn't
seat properly?

EDIT: Also, would a improperly worn clutch give me a weird engagement point? Now that i think about it the clutch has always engaged at that point.. Even at the PA GTG i went to over at Riff's place..

I would say yes if it where a true dual disk like the ones I put in our semis then yes but not with this one. how many miles are on this one?

I want to say 20k.. I know the stock clutch let go really really early and i
got about 25k on the truck now. I mean i don't drop the clutch or do
any of that hard driving that kids do my age. so i can't see how it could
be so problematic so early in it's life.. I did two tests that Centerforce
asked me to do and the clutch is disengaging properly, BUT i thought it
was odd that the tech at the trans. shop said he smelt clutch when he
was moving my truck. I don't smell it? :dontknow: At this point i want
to order one but i'm really really trying to keep this under a grand...

about 20k miles sound about right for the centerforce, actually you did pretty good I know some guys not on these trucks but with there cars they where getting 10 some 15k then they went with a different brand and where getting 45-50k while still trackin it. I know I wont be putting a centerforce back in mine. It grabs good but I just can see paying that price again.

you know its probably going to end up being something small and stupid.

an uneven wear of a clutch will cause engage problems. on a ferrari 430 challenge car that we have at my shop, about 6 months ago the car wouldn't even move basically because of the clutch. we tore it down to find out that 5 out of the 8 pucks on the clutch were missing. like others have said i doubt the fly is warped since you dont trash your truck.

Oh i'm certain it will be.. I bought a $15 pilot bushing for a reason :D :D
But i feel it's the hydraulics more importantly.. So i'm not sure.

well do tell what brand of clutch is going 50k miles while drag racin' it ??:)
they dont track every weekend but they have been getting 50k out of the spec II and III this is what I think I am going with next. But for the guys who arent FI the one clutch sean told me about is very good and works with the stock slave if you havent changed it. It is better then the stocker and has good clmping force. But again just give him a buzz he can help alot more then I can.

after much thinking bud, an since it worked before, I think you will end up with a master cylinder prob

My guess too... Tommorow i'm supposed to be getting my parts. I'm gonna
replace the master cylinder in the dealership parking lot or if i can, in the
service bay area, then have them bleed the system and see if that makes a
difference. If it doesn't, well, i guess it's good to have a new one anyways..

But the Viper tech swears up and down it's the flywheel. I really really
don't see how this could be the case. I feel guilty for doubting the guy
but if i'm wrong, well shit i'm gonna feel like an idiot. :dontknow: :marchmellow: :D

Shoot i oughta fly or drive one of you bastages up here so we can have
a group chat! LOL :D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D Probably be cheaper in the long run!

viper tech guy is an idiot. please tell me how a flywheel will cause a soft pedal.....

yeah its too bad your not closeby man or would have fixed this for ya.

He thinks the flywheel is slightly bent crap you guys gonna make me
bust out MS Paint??? Alright... :D

Here's a drawing he drew me on a sheet of paper:
clutch.png

See how my clutch disk has worn at the edge and the regular clutch is ok?
This wear pattern is due to a bent flywheel. He says he's 99% sure this is
my problem and that i'm wasting my money and time replacing a master
cylinder..

Just to be clear when i install a master cylinder it's a pretty simple drop in
and replace right?

1) Just unlatch a plug and disconnect it from the pedal then disconnect it from the slave.
2) remove two retainer bolts.
3) remove two bolts holding reservoir.
4) remove unit.

5)repeat steps to install?

Are there any steps i need to follow for a proper reinstall regarding the fluid?:dontknow:

like i said before, our clutches tend to wear like that. It's just be cause of the way the clamping force of the clutch is distributed. my stock clutch with 45k miles was worn exactly like that and my flywheel was heatcracked to shit and it still did not slip and was able to powershift it. the reason i finally decided to do it was cause i started to hear a squeaking from a metal rivot on the disc starting to wear into the flywheel.

as far as changing the master, you dont need to unbolt it.

just disconnect the connector

remove rod of clutch pedal

twist the master cylinder to the right and it will come out.

Thanks for the heads up  What are the two bolts for?:dontknow:
wouldn't i have to unbolt them at some point to use the 1/2" shim on the
new master?
