Somebody asked for a picture of the hood without the liner....maybe this will help but it sux cause the sun was right behind the truck.
This is where the underhood light attaches to the hood, one sheet metal bolt and a wire clip
The whole box snaps open left to right and the bolt holds it to the hood with the flap
The cover of the light just snaps off using a small flat screwdriver
This is the light holder and cover
And my broken bulb which hangs between the brass contacts in the next pic
Lotta wasted bandwidth for a simple task, maybe it will save someone some time. It was easy to get to the light after I took off the hood liner to paint it. Also there is a tool that makes this a breeze, that removes the little plastic panel clips...they are called panel clip pliers.....duh.
but you can just yank em out with a wire but you'll need to have new ones. Someone said they are .85 cents apiece but I beg to differ.....they were $2.90 apiece at the dealership and I didn't try to find them cheaper but I'm sure you can, they are just plastic panel clips. You'll need about a dozen of them
and that's outrageous for a piece of plastic but I was there and didn't want to drive around to find them so I paid the killer price...bitched about it the whole time to the counter guy...he was apalled too.
So, there you go...hope it'll help someone a bit.
