So I went to Thunder Valley last night, was about a cool 50 degrees. Well the first race I lined up against an SRT-4 with 3" bol-ons and stage 0 ecu, stage 1 injectors. It was an '03 with major traction problems off the line, so I beat him to the 60' with a 2.3 :( ... and went on to win with a 14.0 at 101 to his 14.9... only good thing of the night would be my .101 reaction time. Dropped the hammer at 3k this one... hopped sputtered and bogged lol.

When I pull back around to line up a guy with a '00 Lightning comes up and says hey wanna run 'em. He has a 4 pound pulley upgrade and exhaust, says he needed to buy race gas so I said alright. Anyways we get up to the line after about an hour wait  and I drop the hammer around 3200-3400 RPM's and it hops and bogs like the first race. He jumps ahead (slicks help) and 2nd gear I start to real him in. Than I go to shift from 2nd and hit... 5th!!!!!!!! I shove it out and put it back in 3rd but I ran out of real estate... 14.5 at 95....to his 13.52 I suck at life. Oh ya I also red-lighted. Also the shift from 1st to 2nd I grinded like a mofo and smelled clutch after the finish line. YAY.

My truck was STOCK and I had 30 PSI in the rear tires... cut 2.3 60' both times. Oh ya my first time racing my truck

Good time for your first...and yea, that 2-3 shift can ruin what was a perfect race......you need to look into getting a B&G or X-metal shifter (I have a used Gen IV for sale.;) ) wont garantee no miss shift but definitely helps......and try dropping your rear tire pressure to 20LBs next time and I bet you will shave 2-3 tenths off that 60'...

My very first time down the track I ran a 14.5. It went downhill from there. My second run I spun like crazy and the third run was the dreaded 1-2-1 shift. I sucked too. Fortunately I was only running against other SRT-10's so I didn't have to hang my head too low.

Lol thanks for the encouragement, I was really about to write a long hate mail letter to Hurst for making a piece of poop with their name on it.

hurstshifters is lower than whale poop and thats at the bottom of the ocean:elefant:

I had the B&M in my truck when I did that so I couldn't blame the stock shifter. It was my fault. I had cut a pretty good light against Bill (Poppopmadman) who was running nitrous. I had a pretty good lead. I was thinking about how good the truck was running and listening to the engine roar and the wind whistling by. Until I threw it back into 1rst when all hell broke loose.

By the time I got everything settled back down and in the gear I wanted, all I could do is watch Bill sail by. I was video taping the run from inside the truck and the jolt the truck took when I mis-shifted garbled the video (digital pixelation) during that part. No damage to the truck (thank goodness). I haven't been back to the track since but I know she's got a 13.* pass in her. If the driver can handle it.

I never had a problem with the Hurst,,,,ask EMT , he rode with me down the track,,,,I hit all gears perfect ,, all it takes is practice

That's why I like the Automatics !!! No doubt not as much fun as shifting, but you're gonna be hard pressed to out shift one !!! Keep on workin on it,it'll happen for you !!!

cuda, if you want a cheap quick fix to your shifter take out the rubber bushing that is on the handle where it bolts to the shifter, its louder that way but it is worth it. thats what i did cost me 6 dollars instead of 200....also my rubber bushing was cracked so there was a lot of play in the shifter and i'd be willing to bet yours is too....

;-) I'd kill for your 60'!! And that's just in 1st gear, the rest would take care of itself.
