Thanks Jack,But i think i'm gonna keep it till the wheels fall off.:D

I have no problems with my Bassani's......i installed a heat wrap on the starter anyways.

Those of you that are melting the inter fender might be running too lean of a AF ratio which causes the exhaust piping to overheat.

I didn't take any chances with my install. I wrapped the starter, starter wires, steering column boot... Basically anything that was in the hot zone.;)

did you make those yourself? where can you get some of them?
They are rather pricey,But DC Performance has them on their web site.I had no problems after installing them.

On The topic of melting.... I have a fairly serious problem with the undercarriage of my 05 quad cab. I took her to get a new tranny linkage seal put in and when we put her on the lift and took a look underneath... almost all of the black insulation surrounding the tranny had melted. Also the catalytic converter has prettywell melted. We looked for any recalls but nothing. has anyone else had the same problem. i don't want to put all new parts in until i know it won't happen again. Not under warranty btw, bought it from Cali and brought her to Canada. Really Appreciate any help... thanks

glad I passed on chasing down those bassanis I found on ebay...

I am liking the idea of just jet hot coating the cast manifolds. This thread helps a lot in my decision.

Didnt mean that the Bassani headers were bad....The collector is right next to the starter as would be any shorty that hooks to the stock exhaust...I would still buy the Bassanis again if I had it to do over..:)

Bassani does not supply gaskets with their headers, they reuse the stock gaskets in most cases. I have worked with Todd at Bassani in Anaheim Ca. fitting exhausts on the Dodge Rams.
I have had three Ram trucks with Bassani headers and never had a heat issue with any of them.....remember lean tuning will melt an exhaust system.
