I was changing out my (4) rotors and pads with Gary's X-Metal rotors last week. I noticed that the passenger side rear caliper was cracked on each piston (one worse than the other). I took a picture with my phone right after the caliper was taken apart. I took it into the dealership yesterday and they said that they could not take care of it under warranty because I had just changed out my rotors and pads and they assumed that I cracked it...
Now,,,, it's my word against theirs. I did NOT crack the pistons and was very careful during the install process. There was no leaking (yet) but I was proactive by noticing the problem. The ONLY way to notice this problem would be to take apart the caliper, which I did, and now they're saying since that was done, they won't warranty it. Any ideas???

That's just wrong!!

Who all did you talk to at the stealership? Make sure you talk to the service manager, not just any old service dude, you want THE SERVICE MAN!!

If you already have talked to him, I would be asking to speak to the district rep. Most likely they are sore at you for not letting them make money...er I mean fix your truck for you!:D

Keep hounding them, that is just wrong!! and you have the pic to prove it!

put it back together and take it to another dealership and get it replaced.

Now this is a man who thinks like I do :D :D :D

you could allways say.. gee.. I would have never known that it was there until I took it apart... so had it gone long and failed... you could have had a catastrophic brake failure.... and been bringing the truck to them in pieces....

Saw your truck at the dealership today

Did they take care of your problem ,I just had my lojack installed there today curious on how they treated you.
Do they have a viper tech there?
I just purchased my 06 QC from them 2 week ago.:)

if nothing else tell him a brake shop was changing the rotors and pads and found it. they still might be able to say they messed it up too if they dont want to cover it. id look for another dealership anyway with that kind of service. hell, bring it to alabama i can get it covered for you.

I've chipped those pistons too by trying to push them back in with a screwdriver back several years ago :-( The steel is very hard and brittle.
