I started this to get ideas on weight reduction for my RC. I had a hemi and there were some ways i knew of. I will list what i know and if anyone else has ideas add um to the list. The only problem i see is removing parts that make the truck what it is like the paenger seat and sub ect. I will add these to the list but personally woundnt do them, im looking for creative ways to maintain the same truck but with lighter and or different options that hold true to the origional pieces. Secondly i am wondering if there is a company that will make fiberglass parts for our trucks any ideas guys?

Fuel Cell (removing tank)
Smaller Rims
Carbon fiber/Fiber Glass Fenders, Hood
Remove Spare Tire
Remove Sub
Remove Hitch
Remove Passenger seat
Remove Fin

remove extra battery tray. remove tailgate. ???? dunno how far a person would go. you could lose about 1000 lbs if you gutted it and put a lightweight racing seat in it. no door panels, no carpet, interior plastics, drill holes in bed crossmembers, lightweight driveshaft, aluminum oil pan, the possibilities are endless. remove the heater/ac components and controlls.

-no spare tire or jack
-no tailgate
-no front swaybar
-no washer fluid
-no passenger seat
-no windshield wipers
-no door handles
-no hitch
-Replace rear bumper with a rollpan
-1/8th tank of gas
-remove any and all trash in your truck
-lighter wheels/tires
-fibrglass body parts
-only run 6qts of oil
-go on a diet
-no center console
-Remove overload leafs
-lighter seats
-plexiglass windows
-almuinum driveshaft
-remove antenna
-carbon fiber hood

LOL, I didn't really read that before I posted it. Thats the list I use on the hemi before we went to try to make an 11 sec pass...

Removing the wing not only sheds weight of the truck but cuts down on wind resistance....good for at least 1/2 second.

I think it'd be fun to do a pass w/ out the doors on!

With my hemi I could take the tailgate off and do the same... Now w/ the wing on and the tailgate off I lost 4 mph on my trap speed. Next time I go I am going to ditch everything, wing, seats spare, jack... i want a 12.8 pass badly!!!

wieght reduction for an RC? loose the wife:D good 100-150lbs gone:p

Hood weighs a ton, maybe fiberglass?:dontknow:

Problem is the only hoods i can find are carbon fiber and i really dont want one of those, they never fit right and well there i a chance depending on how there built for warp in the hood from heat. You never trulyknow if they use the wet and or dry process to make the hoods. Want fiber glass but need a good custom guy for that, any ideas? Have been looking for a custom fiber glass parts guy for a few years and havnt found one, because if i could find that id do a part at a time and probably end up with a fiber glass truck in the end lol, great more parts to store in my garage. The parts i would like to get in fiber glass are:
-fenders
-hood
-dash board
-inner/outer door panels

and i always toyed with the idea of trying to find a guy who wanted to experiment and take the pick up box off the rear and try to build a complete box out of fiber glass. If it would even work would be the question due to the weight being removed off the rear axle, but thats why i say experiment to see what amount of weight is just enough vs to little.

My reasons are simple, I like to take big heavy things and make them move way to fast and catch unsuspecting fast cars who think im stock. Take off and then let them pull up next to me so i can watch there girl friends/wives laugh at them while they wont even look my way. Its the small things in life that make me happy. And Broker than a joke but thats what credit cards are for.

What the hells a fin??? :dontknow:

Yes i said FIN, its a fin and will always be a fin. I ripped that thing off the day i bought mine and will never put it back on lol. So call me fin prejudice but i think the truck doesnt need it i mean its not a light weight foreign car, its a petal to the metal, balls out truck from hell, no fin. (and or spoiler just to make you happy) :aetsch:

Sure gonna be slow...now there are two of you...that wing delete is the first step to boom...

Ah your just imagining your truck wing less, you can do it just step slowly to the back of the truck sir, then remove the bolts holding the wing on and pull off. Its just that simple lol :D

Tried it once, had to have a place so my wife could ride with the dog and me.

Got it off, started to retch, have cold tremors, and what was left of my penis dropped off. Decided to put it back on before my tongue fell off.

Why not just buy an 03 reg cab dodge and get rid of air bags and modules, wipers, powerwindows and door locks and put the v10 and 6 speed in it. Then you could run 17 inch wheels and still have an intact SRT 10 TRUCK. The parts that make our truck an SRT 10 also add weight as in 15 inch brakes, sway bars, heavy leaf springs and traction aids, plus all the amenities like a/c and power everything.
