Just asking...How will your driving habits change? What will you do differently in driving your truck? What will you have to give up to continue to drive your SRT 10?

Now, from your individual business perspective...how will your company be impacted?

What things will change in your organization?

What will your company do to cope with the new cost of fuel?

Just wondering about the vast impact of such a change...

I don't think it's a question of what if, more of when Roy. $5 gas will be a reality this summer. Hell, I've already seen $5 diesel. Our governement is letting the speculators decide what fuel will cost us, and they don't give a shit because they are making plenty of money to pay for $10 gas. Better start arming tanker drivers pretty soon, think about how much money 8800 gallons of gas or 7500 gallons of diesel (what tankers here carry) is worth.

Steve, here is a suggestion for the Navy! When those Nuclear-powered submarines at in port...they should have hook-ups so that electric vehicles can recharge their batteries for free! Hell the reactor is always on, and producing power...why not share it with electric vehicle owners?:dontknow: :D :D

ill have to go buy one, i live like 4 minutes from work but theres a pretty big hill to have to pedal up. gonna kill my beer gut:D

In Canada, we are already paying $1.30+ per litre which roughly equals $5.20 a gallon considering our dollar is at par with the US dollar.

$10 a gallon would be really rough!

More then likely, a reduction in amount of driving would become manditory until I find a cheaper vehicle for travel.

This doesn't include the increases in food, shipping, construction, etc.

I would be working from home as much as possible (gives me a good excuse)!

Time for the people to fight back---before the price gets that high....

What do you suggest we do?

I think the first step is picking up my postal uniform from the cleaners . . . ;)

Thats a good start Roz hahahaha
If the speculators or investors that a suposidly causing the prices to go up ---then the people need to come up with a way to make the fuel a bad investment

Me...

I will still be using RideShare to get to work and back

Work.....
Expect a lot of your taxes and fees to go up. Things as simple as garbage collection to law Enforcement will be affected. People will loose jobs and crime will go up. These are but a few things that will happen. Public Health centers will feel the crunch that will be passed on, Fleet management, Flood Control, Highway maintenance, Parks and Rec's fee's, Public Works, Sheriff's Dept, Enviromental health to include Food protection, Water Quality and Sanitation and Safety, Transportation for Seniors, Fire Dept and Youth Services. A lot of things people just take for granted will be affected or disolved putting a greater burdon on the agencies still operating.

The list is just to long where I work

My area is around $4.15 for high test,Today on the news, they said to expect $5.00 per Gal. of reg. in a few weeks.Analysts project around 12 to 15 dollars a gallon in the future.:)dontknow: :dontknow: :dontknow: :dontknow: )

It won't be a problem of me paying the difference in cost of gas. The problem will be how much more EVERYTHING costs. What a lot of people don't understand about business is that we don't just eat that extra expense, we pass it along to the final user. We may not get it all back but I gaurantee that we will get as much as we can. This goes for higher taxes too... attention Obama.

For example, raw materials go up 2%, the manufactured product goes up 5%, distributer picks up another 5%, retailer adds another 3%... and as far as a percentage increase over what you are paying now, its up more than 15%. Those percentages are taken from increasingly larger numbers, by the time its all said and done you are close to 20% over this years prices. I bet that at $10 a gallon it would be much higher than that. If this still doesn't get our company's expenses back in line, we'll lay people off. Round and round it goes.

In the late 70's I recommended to the Army (I was a staff officer at the Recruiting Command), that all military staff convert to 10 hour days four days a week, 50% with Friday - Sunday weekends, and 50% with Saturday - Monday weekends.

Sounds like a viable approach in today's environment...transportation to work would be reduced by 20%...but three day weekends might just increase the total use of vehicles...who knows???
