What If: Fuel Cost Is $10.00 a gallon?

if someones really saying it'll hit 10-12 in the states(this year) they're on crack.... our economys in bad enough shape.... prices of goods are up... prices of houses are down... we're in a recession (basically) and also in a period of high inflation.... if the gov't doesn't do something... that recession will make a turn for the worse..... most people can't modify their incomes to adjust for such rapid inflation... they'll take more drastic measures... like short-sell or foreclose on their homes....

The republican's plan is to increase refineries... start drilling... utilize alternative energys (i.e. more nuc plants) etc... oh yeah George also got the saudi's to pump out 300,000 more barrels a day... it's a start.... but not a solution....

10 bucks?? over a 100% increase within 7 months.... come on now... :marchmellow:

Just asking...How will your driving habits change? What will you do differently in driving your truck? What will you have to give up to continue to drive your SRT 10?

Now, from your individual business perspective...how will your company be impacted?

What things will change in your organization?

What will your company do to cope with the new cost of fuel?

Just wondering about the vast impact of such a change...

My Wife and I gave up going out on the weekends, so now we eat out about 1-2 times a month....sorry economy.

From business perspective its sad, but ultimately the customer gets the hit :( that's just how it goes...

I have NO idea how the economy will continue like this; people (myself included), go from work to home, and that's about it. Entertainment is inexpensive (watching movie @ the house, video games, little drive out, detailing car, etc...) no spending money on 'shopping', or other items which you would normally spend on.

Most of the stimulus check you received went back in your tank anyways, so the government got there piece back, the rest went to oil....stimulus HA

I am not a rocket scientist but if the price in the US goes to $10 a gallon won't the price all around the world go up by a similar percentage :dontknow: so in Canada we will be paying like 3 bucks a liter and the guys in Europe will spend $500 on a tank of fuel. I just see everyone else saying that they already pay that......

I will not sell the 10 and I do not drive it much less as my other vehicle is not much better on the cost to operate. But I am glad that I paid for it and did not finance or lease it.

I know in my business I need to use diesel and most of the time the extra cost will be passed on to the consumer. I have had to eat some of the cost but work is better than no work.

I can see the world going into a world wide recession due to this energy bubble but in the end it will help us as cost will drive ingenuity, finding new ways to fuel the world.

It just sucks how life works. When I was 18 back in 1990 low paying jobs were the norm and I kind of struggled keeping the fuel gauge in my '86 IROC-Z on full. It felt like I was pumping some amount of gas almost everyday. That was a time when fuel was between $0.75 to $1.06/gal. Even then on occassion (being a silly immature teen) me and my buddies would fill up and run without paying, as if times were tough. They would be in it for the thrill but I was in it for fuel. These days, being older and earning a way better income I still seem to find myself at the pump every other day. I only pump $30 bucks during one sitting because mentally I am still in the 90's when going over $30.00 for a fill up was unheard of. I HATE seeing the final bill saying $85.00 or $90.00... It makes me look forward to leaving the country again so I wouldn't have to pay for gas. I really feel like I've been oppressed my entire driving life. I can just imagine the older generations that complained when $0.25/gal prices hit... What the hell are they saying now?

I remember gas being .25 :dontknow: The greedy bastids are trying to suck the life out of us.:( :(

I have seen some people on the news that have had spouses quit their job. Gas plus the cost of child car = working for no money.

my recommendation is to get locking gas caps if you dont have them already. people are stealing gas where they can now. Also, as this gets worse, civil unrest will rise, thus riots and anything you can think of. If you dont have firearms, get them now in order to protect you and your family when the bastards break into your home to take your shit so they can have money. It sounds like doomsday in a movie or something, but IMO, that day is rapidly approaching.

I'll stay in Singapore for 6 weeks and Houston for 2 weeks, making those dreadful oil rigs.

First stop turning food into fuel, killing to many people.

Second lets get these rigs putting holes in the ground, off the Florida coast and the California coast................... North Dakota.......................

And develop alt energy............... we arn't running out of oil we just don't have the capacity to produce gas........................

Thanks dems and tree huggers :)

The cost of fuel is very complicated. The stake holders are the speculators, big oil producers, refiners, retailers, and us, the unmitigated conspicuous consumer, who somehow has risen to the point of using 25% of the crude oil consumed in the world.

As long as the demand exits the prices will continue to increase. As long as our dollar continues to decline in value it will buy less and less of a product who's price is increasing.

I am amazed at the way people get pissed when I drive the speed limit in the right lane...they ride my bumper, give me the finger, dash around me and cut in close to demonstrate their frustration...strange they don't do any of those things when I am in the truck??? Sorry just ranting.

That’s not ranting Prof it makes sense. When you’re driving in the right lane obeying the posted speed limit those frustrated motorists you mentioned probably assume that you are part of the tree hugger population adhering to that greener earth mentality. I know promoting a greener earth is wise but…. it’s a difficult notion to follow when one finds that they can barely afford a daily drive to work. However, when you are in your black beast it simply has “stay the eff out of my way,â€￾ and, “8mpg,â€￾ written all over it. No tree hugger behind THAT wheel.:driver:

With gas prices rising, these may be our future vehicles.

we had one of those cool gas caps that you don't have to remove to fill the tank, on the srt8

some Mexican............................ just kidding tried to steal our gas, they couldn't and only succeeded in breaking the gas cap.

so now it's got an annoying locking gas cap....................

$10 per gallon gas?? I might have to reenlist:( If it gets to that point, the army will probably start an allowance for gas... just like the have for food and housing.

This weeks prices........Diesel is $5.11 now on Maui, premium is $ 4.57.

Everything will get more expensive. We all should enjoy the ac in our homes this summer cause its gonna cost us big time. Power bills are gonna go through the roof. Maui's power plant burns oil to produce electricity. The fuel surcharge is now more than all the other costs in the bill. I have friends whom their power bill is nearly $1k a month!!! I have a small 1300 sq.ft house, no pool and my bill is $200. Dog days of summer with the ac going...........it'll go up over 50%.

Society is heading closer to "have's and have nots".

One thing to keep in mind, and this comes from people that i know. MOst people who are being affected by the rising gas prices are those who generally drive a more fuel efficient car. Now I obviously dont like paying the amount I am paying to fill my truck, but its just a part of life i guess. friends of mine that have a lower income and fuel effiecient cars and feeling the crunch more because it is starting to cut into there dining out money or entertainment/fun money. its not so much the cost of gas, its what it has done to increase the cost of all the things we consume.
