Cage, seats with five point harness, tires rated for that speed, lowered for less lift, different gearing for the rearend, driveshaft hoop.

Now for the questions. What's the fastest you have ever driven? Where are you planning on doing this? Will you be able to do shake down runs and slowly buildup to this speed or are you going to do a bonzai run?

I have been in the high 160's. If something goes wrong, things will be happening very fast.

Just thought of a couple more things. Depending on how long a run you will be making you may want to consider adding coolers for the transmission and rearend. The rearend will also require a pump to circulate the grease.

I will probably think of more as I think about it some more. I will update then.

:withstupid: Im with him! Oh and dont mintd the stupid part.:D
:flybye: =:burnout: :burnout:

I have been in the mid 170`s.Ditto for Silver on the things happen faSSt thing.

I`ll add my .02 in here.(adjusted for inflation it is worth $1.50 now)

Lowered 4/6.

Aero package to include underpinning, hard tonneau ,wing for downforce and stablity enhancement.

Tires, speed rated and allowances on pressures for the speed, resistance and heat build up. Running the Texas Mile I`m thinking. if @ Bonneville that is another set up.

NHRA certified roll cage to 8 seconds IMHO.

5 point harnesses.

Nomex suit,gloves,helmet liner,shoes.

Fire supression system.

DSSL

New Driveshaft

Tranny cooler

Higher gears...3.07`s .Can we put the Viper gears in our Dana Super 60...???

Now this is a plan for a professional speed run.It is also a $10,000.00 price tag.Can you do it with less? Yes.Would I ? ...no.

Just be careful Walt.

Good input on the drivers suit and stuff Dave. I Forgot that.

You also might want to consider running some steel wheels with your new tires. Steel wheels seldom, if ever fail.

Thanks Guys.....still not sure if I will drive...I have a Pro driver who would like to do it.....just need to know what you guys think I would need.....Myself.....I have been 165 on a motorcycle......and had a corvette to 170....yes things happen fast and the trick is to have enough HP to get there very quickly so you don't spend much time in the "dead zone".

You definitely need a wing.

According to what DC engineers have said, I think the wing is a must.

Just make sure you have a movie cam in the truck . a 2nd cam where you take of.. and a 3rd where you expect to hit 190 and you pass buy the camera man.. then post them all here :)

ambulance in the vicinity and if possible a helicopter should something really bad happen. Everyone above my post seem to have everything covered. Henny should know given his 1 mile racing experience.

IMO Walt you have to much time and money invested in your rig to jeopardize her just for the sake of running this 190 mph mile.... enjoy her mang!!! :D

Walt,

You are most definately in my prayers...............

In fact, I believe I'll go start now.......................................

("Dear Lord, Protect our brother Walt as he sets off to do something really................uh...................daring.........May your angels protect him and keep him from harm........ In Jesus name, Amen")

Gale Banks might give you some pointers. That Dakota with the Cummins in it ran over 200 and pulled the support trailer to the track!
Yes I have seen that run....on the salt....it was a top end course 5 miles on the salt flats....really pretty cool....that truck is highly modified.

Heck Jack I have been in my friends Black wingless QC here in Tulsa at the sod farms where there is no access and flat smooth pavement and we have been 155...and his truck only has the cat back Magna Flow and CAI.....seems to me it sould not be to much of a stretch to do another 40 mph with my truck :dontknow:

I agree. Ithink u can do it right noW! Change your rearend so the tope nd will go up. Put it in hi Boost mode and go....Ive been 180 MANY TIMES but I guess Im a f'n nut..... I had a turbo Busa that did 197 (with my brother on it)...Bikes are a lot scarier at 180 than a truck!!!

I can relate...I've been 185-plus on my 'Busa a couple of times myself!:D

ummm how about a parachute to slow you down or if you go airborne you will have a safe landing back to earth :D

honestly though now why would you want to take a chance on ruin'ing such a work of art ? that truck needs to be on the white house lawn as a symbol of the american spirt.. Not getting recycled as beer cans, when its smashed , crashed, and trashed.

not to mention the poor bastard driving it :)

your truck is so fast, you dont need to even start the motor ,, thats one to ponder :)
