I've seen alarm systems with the keychain pager that tells you when your baby has been violated. I've even heard of the ones that take a picture of the person who's breaking into your car.
So what alarm systems do you guys have? Will most aftermarket alarms integrate with the factory alarm? Is there any system that has a sensor for the tailgate that will set the alarm off if the tailgate is opened?
Any suggestion and/or input is appreciated. Thanks

I HATE car alarms! I work on cars and trucks, and every car alarm goes of when it shouldn't. I have seen every brand go off when it shouldn't. Some people like them, I do not. I wish you all the best.

Bill.

You can put a sensor or switch to any door hood or tailgate and windows with a quality alarm system...

I went with the Scytek Alarm system.

this alarm i got off ebay and had it installed when i had the stereo system installed. Some things it will do..

1) remote start
2) tailgate sensor (I found out the hard way)
3) takes pics of intrudors
4) allows the truck to run with key out of ingnition

one downfall AAA battery lasts about 3 months.. :)

I really like the alarm.

My thing is, unless you want the cool features (remote start, window controls, etc..) if someone wants it, there going to get it.

If you want to catch them before they take it or even after they take it, then GPS is the top security.

I don't have an alarm on this one.... But, I do have some advice! :dontknow: :D

Find the BEST installation place you can find. Ask around your area, look on the Better Business Bureau website, etc... This is more important than the brand of alarm IMO. If they f*ck your truck up installing it, or do a shitty job, DCX will not touch your truck... Most shops wont either. Make sure you find a great installer first.

That said... I have heard DEI alarms are the way to go. DEI makes Viper, Python, Clifford, and Avital alarms. (Viper being the High-Line Brand). :)

all the srt10's come with a factory alarm... there is an accessory for shock sensor they're fairly cheap and pretty easy to install. will trigger the alarm if the window is broken, etc.

Those of you that have a VEC II or VEC III have a no start card programmed.

My reader is in the cab, when I leave the truck I insert the no start card...it can still be dragged away, but chances of someone being able to start it are slim and none.

Bucke77 where can I find that shock sensor accessory?

Black1, thanks for finding those shops for me, I'll be checking them out.

I am sure Avondale can get it for you. Look in the Vendor Section of this forum and post a thread there... ;)

I was not comfortable with the aftermarket alarms as they have to hack up the factory wire loom so bad it did not make me feel at ease so I went with the factory OEM alarm upgrade that is more plug and play. It was installed by my dealer. Also have LoJack with the notification feature that if it is moved for any reason it will call me at home, call the cell, & send an e-mail to let me know it is moving and not authorized to do so. You just call 911 at that point and they go looking for it.

Not a big fan of anything DEI, look into CompuStar they offer quite a few nice systems

i didn;t realize you had a 06. I've never done one on the CAN BUS system. I just checked the part number and mopar has stopped making this sensor, however there are a few dealers with them in inventory. I think it would work but again haven't done one on the 06 and newer. p/n is 82207152.

I have an Avital 2 way system that i like a lot. What is nice about it is if someone does set off the alarm then the key pad that you have with you will go off. the only thing is you have to be close enough to the truck. You can up grade to the Viper system which also has GPS.

thought I'd throw this out there... DEI was founded by congressman Daryl Issa... I'm sure the San Diego guys are familiar with him...

I had lowjack on my RC (which was cool I guess) I haven't figured out what to do on this truck... the remote start is neat... but I still need to turn the key (which is kinda lame) I like how the merc's and the new vette works... walk up with the card... open the door.... pussh the button :)...

Most likely I'll just get a VEC 3 and use that for security... the trucks insured... if someone wants it... let em have it :D

I agree with Patrick. If someone wants it, they're going to get it. Plain and simple.

In my opinion car alarms do one of two things. Keep honest people honest, and piss off everyone around them when they go off. By the way, no one ever calls the cops or anything like that.
