Ok these trucks are straight pigs in the weight dept. Anyone wanna share any ideas on how to get a 10 close to 4000lbs???? I mean something beides removing the spare. My ideas are:

1. Get ride of the a/c & heater systems completely core & all

2. Remove the dash & Strip anything weight & reinstall

3. Remove the airbags

4. Cut out the floor & inner walls of the bed

5. Remove frontal frame parts

6. Bolt on some 17" alloy wheels

7. Pull out the spare & remove the tailgate & wing

8. Remove the steel inner section of the back bumper

9. Remove the entire rear frame behind the rear axle

10. pull all but 1 seat

11. Pull the carpet

12. Remove the door windows & regulators

13. Remove all inner door structure

14. replace all frame crossmembers with titanium replacements

15. Remove the leaf springs & replace with car-type shocks & springs

16. Replace the hood with custom thin plastic hood

17. replace power pedal assy

18 remove radio, all radio wiring & speakers

19. Replace windshied with lighter thin plastic replacement

20. Replace back glass with light thin plastic replacement

21. cut all extra metal out of the inner roof structure

22. Replace radiator fan with lighter replacement

23. Replace the front A-arms with alluminum replacements

Man thats all I can think of. Would doing all that get us under 4000 lbs?? Would all of this coupled with a sweet suspension get someone like dom in the 8's??? Anyone else have any ideas or care to elaborate on any of mine?

If your doing all of that you would make he 4000 mark. I know of a Hemi quad cab thats down to 4200 with less weight reduction than what you listed but absolutely no interior. FYI the 06 is a few 100lbs heaver.

you obviously not going to drive it on the street. At that point why not build a tube chassis and then you can dictate most of the weight. There are companies that have composite or fiberglass bodies. Sounds like what you are getting at is a truck that looks like a SRT-10 but with everything cut out of it.

OK another idea. What about drilling a ton of holes on the main frame? I bet you could lose some weight there.

no need to hack up the truck, but if your willing go for it

Ok I am seriously gonna do the following. My crapload long list is totally not gonna happen, but I think these would work good.

1. Drill Large hole saw type holes in the frame all through it but sytay reasonable. I bet we shed 75 lbs there.

2. Completely remove the rear inner bumper 50 lbs there

3. Cut 3/4 of the front frame horns off at the radiator leaving just enough to support the outer front bumper. 35 lbs

4. Cut off the rear hitch section of the frame, and probably most of the tail section just leaving the top part of the rear horns to support the rear bumper cover. 75 lbs to maybe 100 lbs

5. Completely remove the inner front bumper, and replace with a stout peice of alluminum across whats left of the front frame horns(safety only) 75 lbs

6. Remove that huge skid plate below the front bumper cover on the bottom of the front end. 20 lbs

7. Stinkers rear end setup 100 lbs there

8. Remove the spare 80 lbs

9. Remove the spare holder equipment 20 lbs

10. Remove the dash and strip and extra metal out of there reinstall. Entire dash weighs 200 to 300 Lbs I know I just sold one, but I'll bet you could get 50 lbs out of it. so 50 lbs there.

11. Remove the bedcap & Bedrug 200 lbs or so

12. Remove the tail gate what 50 to 75lbs maybe??

13. Replace the crossmember with titanium replacement 20 lbs

14. Cut most of the frame of the power pedal assembly 15 lbs (good one here)

15. REmove the subwoofer 30 lbs

16. Replace radiator fan with lighter replacement at least 30 lbs

17. Does anyone make any alluminum a-arms? dunno on this one

Buts thats all the doable stuff I see, lets see what we have here. . . . over 900 lbs maybe a 1000 lbs shed and still a livable truck. I may even keep the tailgate on there if I could get over 900 off. Sounds actually doable!!

i think that'd make the frame pretty weak

No I dont think it would weaken it at all. As long as the hole-drill drilled about 2" diameter holes and space them right I bet it would be fine.
