Who Knows Ford Broncos ?

Right on Nelson, I would love to have that truck. Older Broncos are cooler than shit. I tried like hell to buy a new one when I was in high school, just couldn't swing it.

I have and injected 302 from my '87 F150 you can have. It runs and is complete, still in the truck, just come get it. Computer and everything, just replace the gaskets before you install it.

I will definitely take it !! :D

Thanks !! :congrats: :marchmellow:

Just need to schedule a weekend that I can get a friend to help do it on
I am still out of work for at least two weeks so anytime works for me,but my buddy is still working and I am sure I will need his help

I traded my bud from work a pistol,a flashlight, and $1,300 cash (paid weekly 'til I get him paid off) for it ! :D

I am trying to keep costs down and not succumb to "mod-fever"
There are enough vendors to completely rebuild or replace EVERYTHING on it ! frame, body, and all the small parts !!!

It needs an engine soon, but very little rust and already has 6" of lift ,so for now i am OK

I have been reading back issues of Bronco Driver and I am liking it more and more evry day !! Seems a much cooler off-roader than a Jeep (not that there is anything wrong with Jeeps :D ) and way easier for me to get in and out

I just bought (well,traded a few things for) a 74 Ford Bronco
It has a 3" body lift,3" suspension lift
302 Ford w/two-barrel carb
Four speed trans
Twin stick differential shifters
1 hard and 1 bikini soft top
a little rust and will need tires by summer (has 37" Super Swamper TSLs)

What should I spend money on first ?
It will NOT be used for a show truck
just a weekend toy,but not abused

I need lower seats that sit farther back and maybe a tilt steering column
maybe SRT-10 or C5 vette seats ,or some aftermarket made just for it ?

ANY ideas ?

If you're going to be doing moderate to heavy off raoding, rocks, mud, etc., I would look at upgrading your axles, u-joints, etc. Do you have a solid front axle on that truck? Upgrading the outer axle stubs and u-joints would be a good idea. Turning 37" TSL's in the rough stuff is tough on drivetrain -- things will break. Also, if you have $$$$ invest in a locking rear diff (Detroit is a good one) and either a LSD for the front or a selectable locker for the front. Gears, I ssume the original owner upgraded the front and rear gears to compensate for the increased tire height. if not, you'll get better performance out of the truck with proper gearing - 4.88's should be perfect with the 37's.

I doubt that I will be doing much ,if any,HEAVY off-roading.
I would rather watch other people break stuff :D

(trying to adapt that way of thinking to the SRT hasn't worked as well I would have liked  )

I was told that it has 3.73 gears, which are way too high for the 37's,but when we put the four speed in,it effectively lowered the final ratio (I think)

I hope to stay out of the mud because I HATE cleaning under my trucks
I had an 86 Ram 4x4 that I washed and painted underneath every spring
while lying on my back .I know, totally anal-retentive,but it sure looked good !
It helped me get over $5,000 for it in 98.I can't get that for my '99 now !

My plan is to replace parts whenthey break with the best available when I break them. That is the plan anyway :D

I am upgrading the ujoints now, just to be safe.

Down mod-bug,down !!!!!!:D

My friend bought it from a tweeker who had inherited from his father
he got to jonesin for some meth and sold it for $500 !!!!!!!!!

My friend is needing cash,so he let me have it cheap (see post above)
He bought the 4 speed, the adapter, the twin stick,a complete rubber gasket set,and some other upgade parts

It also came with diamond plate door inserts and rocker guards

Do you have the ratios for the 4 speed? 3.73's may work depending on the trans gears. And I hear ya on that cleaning stuff, especially trying to clean off VA red clay -- $hit sticks like friggin glue. If your gearing works and you have an open rear, I'd go for a Auburn Pro LSD and leave the front open if all your going to do is light stuff.

It actually has 3.50something gears

I don't know what the trans gears are,but my friend has the exact same set-up in his,and it is geared so low it will just inch along in first in low range

supposed to be like 50 to 1 :dontknow:

I have done some horse trading and can get a 351W for the 302 in mine

Not sure if I want to go to all that trouble ,though :dontknow:

I am pretty sure I want to go smaller on the tires ,down to 35" and maybe a bit wider any thoughts ?

It depends on what you want to do. 35's will work for most if not all situations. Interco makes some nice stuff and I think Mickey Thompson still offers good tires. Take a look at National Tire and Wheel's site. They have a wide selection of tires and wheels and they offer really good prices -- plus their staff is really knowledgeable.

I just like the looks of a wider tire

the 37's are 13" wide ,I think :dontknow:

35"s would look wider just by being shorter

I am NOT into serious rock crawling or mud bogging

just weekend trail rides for me

I would go with BFG's mud tire or a Nitto, Toyo mud tire. Even a BFG AT would work and they like the street to :D

Got it moved around today :D

bringing it home tomorrow:rock: :D

the 37's are rubbing badly !!

I may get a 5" lift for it but probably will just go with 35's

(all I really need now is to get the glass in the drivers door:( )

that looks to be a tedious job :(

Git home today !! :D

It needs 4.10's, a REAL lift kit with the proper steering geometry, the 351W swapped in,new 35" tires (the 37"s are scrubbing badly ),a little touch up flat black, and the window installed :D :D

The 2nd gear in this trans is lower than 1st in the 3 speed,so I just take off in 2nd now,but 4th is still a little too high with the 3.50's

Haven't gotten anything done to mine yet,but I have been helping a friend get a 5 1/2" James Duff lift in his.

Split my head open this evening when a wrench slipped.Worst gash I have ever had on my head.Right above my right eye.Head still throbbing.Had to use Super Glue to stop the bleeding.

Hope mine goes easier.:D

Anyone have a line on Interco IROK 35X12.50-R15 tires ? :dontknow:
