Patrick, you've got to realize that this build has gone far beyond what the Paxton management will deal with properly. This isn't the typical Paxton install that most have undertaken. We're talking about TWICE the stock horsepower here after all, just on a pump gas program. I have Boomer building a complete fuel system for 90# injectors just to feed this beast. Tuning for the cam/intake/head combo would be really tough with anything else (unless I lived near DC Perf, but even then...).
I figured I could probably get by with it for a time with the stock injectors and the DC blower flash (there's a few more bucks down the toilet), but there's no need for me to do that now.
The AEM is going allow for the kind of tuning that will allow this truck to idle, and make the highest power possible across the full RPM range. Plus, like the VEC, I can load different programs for street (pull a bunch of timing to make it driveable on street tires), racing, different levels of boost, and different fuels. It will also allow for full data logging of all parameters.
Outside of a standalone engine management system, this is the way for me to go.
