So its November, and my winter projects have officially begun :)

Thought I'd post up some pics and share with y'all

First up - ceramic coated OE manifolds

BTW...cage nuts suck. I ended up cutting most of the flange bolts off

With that finished, moving on to the engine bay.

Fuel rails off - sending to Justin for powder

Wish the pics were better. Candy blue over argent silver. Looks 100 feet deep. Justin did an amazing job on these.

I'll keep you posted on the progress, should be a different truck by next season!

Thanks guys. There's a pretty good chance ill be drinking some power steering fluid tomorrow. I might tackle my misting lines finally. I've had Tony's kit on a shelf for awhile putting it off.

I'm in the same boat, bought them recently but still haven't gotten around to it.

Looks great!

Thanks Andy! Can you believe those are the same manifolds you sent me?
Huge difference getting rid of the rusty brown mess, only paid $100 for the coating too

No, I seriously can't believe they are the same ones. Who did the coating for you?

A place out here called CPC coating. They did a good job, especially for the price, but another shop in Schaumburg callled performance metals did a set for Andy (chaynick) for a little more, and they're even nicer.

I need to get a set coated but was kicking around doing high temp powder coating.

So i got home from work today and it was really beautiful out. My wife really wanted to go out to the park for a walk, but i said f**k that! I'm changing power steering lines!

My new best friend...seriously.

Whoever said you need a crowsfoot and a breaker to do this definitely wasn't lying.
I did the work with the truck on jack stands, and was afraid i was going to break the fan shroud getting the pump side fittings loose.
A little careful heat and they came right out though.

New fittings went in like butter.
And I've now proven to myself that i am physically incapable of not scratching the shit out of anodized A/N fittings...

Still have to do the final routing of the hose, any suggestions? I may drill holes in the fan shroud to secure it with zip ties.

Only part that really stinks is that i can't bleed and test until i get the engine back together.
I'm not worried though, the spring and plunger are in, and Tony's kit is primo quality ;-)

Looks great, I also noticed my power steering lines are starting to seep while I've been working on my project. Another expense, sigh.

Thanks Andy! Sucks about your lines, but what can you do? I have crap all over my engine bay and the truck has this perpetual burnt ps fluid smell.
Probably should have handled it earlier but i guess thats what i get lol.
Now i have an under drive pully eyeballing me...

Great job Chris. I been holding off on mine for this weekend, any tips?

I was hoping it was something simpler, like a few shots of Jack or something. :(

Everything goes better with Jack! That's my motto :)

You should try the honey jack snakebite recipe i posted!
Good stuff

So about the lines...
Drain the reservoir
Start at the bottom with the rack.
Bring an oil tray with you down there and some rags.
Disconnect the hose from the rack
After you drain the ps fluid from the old hose, spin the fan by hand for a minute or so and it'll pump out more fluid
Then disconnect the other side of the hose from the fan.
Put your fittings in and tighten, then put the new hose on.
If you don't have a crowsfoot, stop here till you get one.

Pop open the hard line retainers with a screwdriver on the pump side hose.
Remove the pump side fitting from the fan.
Mine was REALLY on there, so i broke out the propane torch and VERY CAREFULLY heated it up, trying as hard as possible to not cook the fan shroud or the belt. Its do-able. After that it broke loose with the help of a crowsfoot, an extension, and a breaker bar. (There will be oil oozing out of this one)
Now go topside and use the crowsfoot to take off the fitting from the pump.
Again, mine wasn't going anywhere, so i broke out the torch. Heat this one with a few seconds on, then try it. Keep going till it breaks loose...don't melt you reservoir obviously.
After its off, have fun getting the line out without spilling fluid all over the place :)
Put the new fitting in with a socket and a u-joint on an extension (i used a 1/2 inch drive, deep enough for the fitting, but still cleared ok. I doubt a deep socket would fit in there)
Make sure the plunger and spring are still in the pump after you take the old fitting out, otherwise the system won't purge later.

It's pretty easy. Took me only a couple hours by myself.

The power steering pressure hose was seeping on my truck. Right where the rubber hose is crimped onto the hard line. Tied a piece of oil absorbing mat around it with some zip ties. Seen my friend do it on his old V10 (cast iron) truck. It worked well keeping everything from being oily mess. When the engine was redone I put on a line kit. Cost was way cheeper than the one new factory line.
