I brought this up years ago with my company about getting more insurance to cover the money (mods) I put in my vehicle. They told me to document the mods (receipts) and I have given them copies of most of my bigger mods. Knock on wood, I haven't had to follow up on any claim.
Obviously, your insurance copy and the relationship you have with them will affect the outcome.
My Hemi was jsut wrecked and I had over 7k in mods on that and didnt get reimbursed for not one and I have all the reciepts.....They told me that they have to be bought and installed within the past 2 years....Most of my major mods where not .....And Brad....I had USAA...never again for insurance, im back with progressive now:rock:
