Ok here goes. I have an 06 rc. I really love the overall look of the Hurst shifter. I think it goes well with the truck. I've also REALLY practiced a lot to get the 3rd gear shift down pat. I'm happy to say, that I haven't missed 3rd in quite some time. In fact, I've ran this truck exactly 7 runs at the track, and have never missed third once while racing. Practice has made perfect for me.
Having said that, I've faced the fact that the throw on the shifter is way too long. No matter which way you slice it, bottom line is that changing gears with the stock hurst shifter costs you precious time in the quarter mile!
I seen the video on X-metal's website of the dude shifting gears and I was very impressed. My question: is it worth it? I'm comfortable with the stocker, but there's now way in hell I'm ever gonna get good, quick shifts with it. Did anyone else here who has the x-metal feel the same way about the looks of the stock Hurst, but are more happy with the x-metal because of the way it performs?
