Had a great day at the first test and tune of the season. First time out with JTSVenom's new Throttle Body. Second time on the M&H cheater slicks. I knew the air was going to be good, so was hoping for good results. Previous best at Famoso was last Nov.5 , best et 11.818, best speed 116.94, still running the BBK throttle body. Previous best et was 11.736 at Phoenix on Jan.21. Here are my six runs in order:

Run 1: 9am, 54 degrees, DA 249', took it easy 3800 rpm launch, 16.5 psi.
60' 1.757, 1/8th mile 7.620 @ 94.73 mph, 1/4 mile 11.851 @ 116.76 mph.

Run 2: 10am, 59 degrees, DA 606', 4000 rpm, 16.5 psi. Slight bog.
60' 1.596 (new best), 1/8th mile 7.444 @ 92.08 (new best ET 1/8th), 1/4 mile 11.669 @ 117.21 mph (new best ET!!!):rock::rock:

Run 3: 12:30pm, 67 degrees, DA 1214', 4200 rpm, 16.5 psi. No bog, didn't feel spin.
60' 1.668, 1/8th mile 7.527 @ 94.49 mph, 1/4 mile 11.742 @ 117.55 mph.

Run 4: 2 pm, 67 degrees, DA1248', 4200 rpm, 16 psi, again no spin.
60' 1.694, 1/8th mile 7.543 @ 94.75 mph, 1/4 mile 11.758 @ 117.50 mph.

Run 5: 3 pm, 65 degrees, DA 1121', 4000 rpm, 16 psi.
60' 1.689, 1/8th mile 7.490 @ 94.88 mph (new best 1/8th speed), 11.692 @ 118.01 mph (new best speed!!!):rock::rock::burnout:

Run 6: 4:45 pm, 61 degrees, DA 883', 4500 rpm,16 psi.
60' 1.640, 1/8th mile 7.521 @ 94.45 mph, 1/4 mile 11.745 @ 117.29 mph.

Wow 11.669 was better than I expected, Thanks Tony at JTSVenom for a great product. I have to say the everyday driving is a lot smoother with the JTSVenom TB, no fast idle issues what so ever. Truck seems calmer. Big thanks to SRTBrad for a long day.....over four hours of video shot.

I just checked the Nov. 5 results and the DA was 602' , temp was 57 degrees on the 11.818 @ 115.98 run, so comparing the record run yesterday ( 11.669 @ 117.21) is a real test for the JTSVenom TB in that the DA was 606' and the temp 59 degrees, nearly identical conditions. Wow. I couldn't have had a better comparison for testing results. Amazing. Thanks again Tony.

Thanks for the detailed breakdown. Congrats again on your new best!

Congrats on the NPB.

Thanks Chris. Just as a side note there was a new 2012 GT500 (550hp, and track pack 3.73 gears) with MT Street radials. He wanted to run me but we never got the chance , once he saw my times and after he ran 12.48, 12.98 and 12.53. Another friend of ours drove the GT500 to a 12.13 , his best of the day. Traction was not an issue as he bogged each time on the line, no wheelspin at all. It will be interesting to see the new 650hp version. It might be interesting if I get the new Gen IV heads, intake and a new cam installed.

get the gen 4 heads cam, but make sure you get it ported and polished as well, go for the killer blow.. Gen4 over stock 100hp and port polish to stage 4 for another 150,,, you would be braking Doms time with that set up..

Very weird. Ive seen a new BOSS go 11's with just a tire change and a driver mod.

Nice runs Jerry!

Thanks for the real world info/test on the JTSVP TB. Looks like it may be just a touch lean up top with the new TB. Your trap speeds were faster as the day warmed up. More could be had..:rock:

Do you run a A/F wideband?!?

Do you mean by porting I could gain another 50hp over the 100 gained by adding the Gen IV heads, for a total of 150rwhp? I've talked to DC Performance and Dan said I could gain 40 by porting the heads and another 17 by porting the intake, so sounds real good. I will talk with Chris at DC to custom design a cam for the weight of the truck. I still need to find a little help with the sponsership:D

I'll talk to Chris at DC Performance with your info, Thanks. I have no idea what an A/F wideband is, I'm a low tech Grampa who just likes to drive and kinda knows how to shift!:rock:

I dont believe this is a real world test on the throttle body......your previous best was at phx correct?????

Your comparing your best at famosa which was NOV 5th with out your bogarts imho you got more of a gain from dropping your 60ft....not the tb

dont get me wrong im not taking anything away from you those are bad ass times for sure i just think more of the gain is from the weight of the bogarts and the better 60'

here is phx run
Run 2: DA 1796, 60' 1.6516, 1/8th (no time), 1/4 mile 11.7366 @ 115.74 mph.( NEW PERSONNAL BEST)

here is best at famosa
Run 2: 10am, 59 degrees, DA 606', 4000 rpm, 16.5 psi. Slight bog.
60' 1.596 (new best), 1/8th mile 7.444 @ 92.08 (new best ET 1/8th), 1/4 mile 11.669 @ 117.21 mph (new best ET!!!)

If you would have had the exact same weather conditions in phx as you did at famosa it would have been this

Your Original Run: ET - 11.7366 MPH - 115.74 (run on Phoenix)
Corrected Run To Conditions Today: ET - 11.61 MPH - 117.04 (corrected run from phx with famosas weather cond)

I was comparing Nov.5 vs Feb.18 at the same strip, same lane, identical DA , same temp and I stated that I felt the cheater slick (and Bogarts) helped with the 60' and that the throttle body was the help with the top end speed 115.98 vs 117.21. But I like your analysis, Thanks, it's very interesting.
